Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The
Supervisor Quality Assurance is responsible for overseeing daily quality operations in the
Tensioner and Idler manufacturing area to ensure products meet internal standards and customer requirements.This role involves leading a team of quality inspectors and technicians, managing in-process and final inspections, supporting problem-solving activities, and ensuring compliance with
IATF 16949:2016 standards. The supervisor plays a key role in maintaining product consistency, reducing non-conformities, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing and customer quality performance.
In-Process and Final Quality Control
- Supervise and monitor in-process inspections in the Tensioner and Idler assembly lines.
- Ensure compliance with defined inspection standards, control plans, and quality procedures.
- Verify first-off, in-process, and final inspection reports before production release.
- Ensure traceability of parts and maintain inspection records as per QMS requirements.
- Review inspection equipment calibration status and escalate issues to Metrology.
- Support containment and segregation of non-conforming products.
Quality Assurance & Problem Solving
- Lead day-to-day quality checks and issue resolution at the shop floor.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Conduct defect analysis, rejection trend monitoring, and report recurring issues to Engineering and Production teams.
- Support 8D report preparation and closure for internal and customer issues.
- Drive defect reduction initiatives through Poka-Yoke and process improvement measures.
Customer Quality Support
- Support customer complaint analysis and coordinate corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare inspection data, traceability reports, and quality documents during customer visits or audits.
- Ensure timely communication and feedback closure on customer rejections and warranty concerns.
- Assist in preparing PPAP and quality documentation for new and modified parts.
Documentation and QMS Compliance
- Ensure all inspection records, test reports, and rejection logs are properly maintained.
- Support internal and external audits (IATF, customer, or supplier).
- Participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA) and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
- Maintain compliance with quality system documentation such as control plans, work instructions, and check sheets.
- Support Management Review data preparation related to QA performance indicators.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement (CI) activities in the Tensioner and Idler manufacturing line.
- Monitor and improve process capability indices (Cp, Cpk) for key characteristics.
- Identify and eliminate sources of variation and waste in the inspection process.
- Implement 5S, Kaizen, and Lean initiatives in the QA area.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Team Supervision and Training
- Supervise quality inspectors and technicians across shifts, ensuring adequate manpower allocation.
- Train team members on inspection techniques, drawing interpretation, and defect identification.
- Monitor team performance and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Foster a safety- and quality-first mindset across the production and QA teams.
Technical Skills
Requirements and Preferred Skills
- Sound knowledge of Tensioner & Idler manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, testing).
- Hands-on experience with measurement tools (CMM, vernier, micrometer, dial gauges, surface testers, torque testers, etc.).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, SPC, MSA, and control plans.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and problem-solving tools (8D, 5Why, Fishbone).
- Basic knowledge of material testing and supplier quality procedures.
- Exposure to SAP-QM preferred.
- Education: Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 8 -10 years of experience in Automotive Quality Assurance, with at least 3 years supervising QA operations in Tensioner & Idler or precision mechanical component manufacturing & Assemblies
