Job Title: Senior Engineer – PMSM Motor Drives (Hardware & Software Lead)

Location: Pune

Department: Power Electronics / Motor Control

Experience Required: 7–12+ years

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer to lead the design and development of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive systems. This role requires ownership across both hardware and software domains, guiding a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-performance, reliable motor control solutions for industrial/automotive applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end development of PMSM motor drive systems, including architecture, design, validation, and production support
  • Manage and mentor cross-functional teams covering:
  • Power electronics hardware design
  • Embedded firmware and control algorithm development
  • Define system requirements, specifications, and design trade-offs for motor control solutions
  • Develop and optimize control strategies such as:
  • Field-Oriented Control (FOC)
  • Sensorless and sensored control techniques
  • Torque, speed, and position control loops
  • Oversee hardware design including:
  • Inverter topology (e.g., 3-phase bridge)
  • Gate drivers, protection circuits, thermal design
  • PCB layout for high-power applications
  • Guide embedded software development in real-time environments (C/C++, DSP/MCU platforms)
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (EMC, safety, functional safety if applicable)
  • Drive system validation, debugging, and performance tuning (HIL, SIL, bench testing)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across product, manufacturing, and quality teams
  • Lead technical reviews and ensure best engineering practices

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in motor control systems, with a strong focus on PMSM drives
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams (hardware + software)
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Power electronics (inverters, MOSFETs/IGBTs, gate drivers)
  • Control theory and motor control algorithms
  • Embedded systems and real-time firmware development
  • Hands-on experience with DSPs/MCUs (e.g., TI C2000, STM32, or equivalent)
  • Experience with simulation and modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, etc.)
  • Strong debugging and system integration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in automotive or industrial drive systems
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262)
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, SPI, UART, Ethernet)
  • Experience with motor parameter identification and tuning
  • Exposure to high-voltage/high-power system design
