Job Description

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
  • Designs and optimizes plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems for various types of buildings and structures.
  • Conducts energy efficiency analyses and proposes improvements to existing PHE systems.
  • Collaborates with architects, structural engineers, and other professionals to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Develops and maintains project schedules, ensuring timely completion of PHE design deliverables.
  • Mentors junior engineers and provides technical guidance on complex PHE design issues.
  • Participates in client meetings to present design concepts and address technical queries.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations in PHE system designs.
  • Performs quality control checks on PHE designs and documentation before final submission.
  • Contributes to the development of in-house design standards and best practices for PHE systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in PHE design for commercial and industrial projects
  • LEED AP certification
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Revit
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems, including hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, fire zoning, fire extinguishers, and clean agent systems
  • Familiarity with energy modeling and analysis software
  • Experience with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading design teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in client-facing roles and ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
