Senior Substation Engineer:

NV5 Power Delivery Group is ranked 14th in the 2024 ENR Power sector, and we continue to grow. We have an opportunity for a talented & ambitious electrical engineer to join us as our new SeniorSubstation Engineer.

US Project Experience is Preferable.

As our Senior Substation Engineer, you will be a senior engineer for new and ongoing substation projects. You will support multiple projects simultaneously and work closely with NV5 Substation Engineering leadership. You will be working in small project teams to provide exceptional customer service and quality in deliverables to our clients.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium and high voltage substation projects.
• Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks.
• Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements.
• Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas.
• Work with small project teams to execute substation projects.
• Responsible for providing weekly updates to Sr. team leaders and/or project managers on milestone progress, estimated completion dates including percent completion of activities and supporting information to monitor project progress.

We are seeking the following qualifications:

• 8 to 15+ years of experience in the Substation/Power Delivery field.
• Experience with high voltage substation design (15kV through 500kV) activities such as preparing one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams, physical layouts, electrical elevations, plans (equipment, grounding, and raceway), and bills of materials including selection of non-standard equipment. Focus on P&C Design.
• Needs to be experienced and able to draft in AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards.
• Experience with power system calculations (AC station service, DC battery sizing, and Voltage Drop/Cable Selection) is a plus.
• Knowledge of substation physical equipment is a plus.
• Knowledge of Protection and Controls design is a must.
• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
