Senior Engineer for Electronics & System Design (Solar Products) (m/f/d)

who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for working in interdisciplinary engineering teams and bringing innovative solar products to market.

YOUR ROLE:

As a Senior Engineer for Electronics and System Design, you will play a key role at our R&D and solar product development hub in Mumbai. You will be responsible for driving and supporting the successful development of innovative solar-powered products (e.g. solar lights, solar IoT masts) while providing technical expertise, guidance, project leadership, and team development skills.

You will work on various electronics and system design tasks. You will coordinate cross-functional activities between electronics, firmware, software, mechanical engineering, industrial design and production to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specification and international quality standards. Moreover, you will contribute to IoT integration, and product certification.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Define detailed product specifications in close cooperation and communication with the European headquarters.
• Develop and define the system architecture of new solar products including the selection of buy components and the specification of make components.
• Coordinate power and control electronics development, including electronics circuit simulation, design, layout, prototyping, and testing of PCBs.
• Designing and developing high-efficiency DC/DC converters with MPPT in power electronics applications, handling wattages up to 1000 W.
• Developing electronics system architecture, schematics, circuit design, and PCB layouts using tools such as Pulsonix, Altium Designer, and Eagle.
• Selection and implantation of communication interfaces (e.g. DALI)
• System Intergration to enable the hei ecosystem for remote monitoring, diagnostics, and control.
• Coordinate, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of electronics, software and mechanical engineers.
• Define team objectives, priorities, and development plans.
• Establish engineering best practices, design standards, and quality processes.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance throughout the product development process.
• Report project progress, technical risks, and resource requirements to management.

YOUR QUALIFICATION & SKILLS:

• University degree (BTech/MTech) in electronics / power electronics.
• At least 7 years of experience in electronics and system design, including a minimum of 2 - 3 years in a project or team management role.
• Proven ability to manage interdisciplinary engineering teams and manage development projects.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence within a team.
• Strong project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on engineering work with management and organizational responsibilities.
• Experience in battery technology and battery management systems (BMS)
• At least basic knowledge in firmware development
• Knowledge in IoT integration and sensor-based systems
• Familiar with international and national Indian certification processes like BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards)
• Ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
• Very good written and spoken English
• Enthusiasm for innovative, environmental-friendly products

GOOD TO HAVE:

• Experience in communication interface design, especially DALI, RS-485, CAN, LoRa, NB-IoT, SPI, I²C
• Experience in solar off-grid products is a strong plus
