Job Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of technical inputs for the firefighting area of the project across different design phases, from master plan to detailed design.
- Review and develop fire protection design basis reports focused on the firefighting area.
- Review and design the firefighting drawings (schematics, riser diagrams, layouts) in line with the International Building Code (IBC) and relevant National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards.
- Conduct rigorous technical assessments to uphold the highest quality standards.
- Review shop drawings for the fire alarm and fighting system as per applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct regular/periodic fire safety inspections and generate inspection reports with action plans for comment rectification.
- Witness cause and effect, and other performance assessment tests for fire and life safety systems & components.
- Validate test certificates of materials related to the fire and life safety systems.
Client And Authority Interaction
- Interface with clients to provide technical clarifications and address inquiries related to fire and life safety aspects of projects.
- Engage with various authorities to ensure projects meet all technical requirements, complying with local, regional, and international fire safety standards.
- Attend workshops with the project design team and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to review Fire and Life Safety (FLS) inspection comments, resolving non-conformances, and addressing coordination issues.
Quality Assurance
- Establish and enforce robust quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of all engineering deliverables.
Training And Knowledge Sharing
- Conduct training sessions for internal teams and clients on the best practices in fire and life safety.
- Stay informed about industry advancements and disseminate knowledge within the organization to foster continuous improvement.
Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 7–8 years of experience in firefighting system design and fire protection engineering.
- Strong knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and NFPA standards.
- Experience in design review, site inspections, and testing & commissioning.
- Proven ability to coordinate with clients, consultants, and authorities.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
