Job Description

The Senior Engineer – PLC Programmer will be responsible for PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, machine automation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of industrial automation systems.

The role requires strong hands-on experience in PLC-based control systems, electrical automation, machine integration, and onsite commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • PLC Programming & Automation
  • Develop, modify, debug, and maintain PLC programs for automated machines and industrial systems.
  • Program PLCs using platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley or equivalent.
  • Develop machine sequences, interlocks, alarms, safety logic, and control algorithms.
  • Integrate PLCs with sensors, actuators, VFDs, servo drives, robots, vision systems, and other automation equipment.
  • Optimize existing PLC programs to improve machine performance, reliability, and cycle time.
  • HMI / SCADA Development
  • Develop and modify HMI/SCADA screens, alarms, recipes, trends, and operator interfaces.
  • Establish communication between PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, drives, and other industrial devices.
  • Troubleshoot communication and networking issues involving industrial protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, etc.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with at least one major PLC platform such as:
    • Siemens S7-1200 / S7-1500 / S7-300 / S7-400
    • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix
  • Knowledge of HMI and SCADA programming.
  • Knowledge of VFDs, servo drives, motors, sensors, actuators, and industrial control panels.
  • Good understanding of industrial communication protocols.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical control drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of machine safety circuits, safety PLCs, emergency stops, safety relays, and interlocks.
  • Basic understanding of industrial Ethernet and networking.
  • Knowledge of robotics, motion control, or machine vision will be an advantage.
Educational Qualification

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Automation, or related engineering discipline.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, machine commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in machine automation, manufacturing, automotive, packaging, material handling, or similar industrial environments preferred.
