Job & Division Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer (Cooling Sub-System) to lead the design, analysis, validation, and optimization of cooling subsystems for industrial compressor packages and related equipment. This role involves defining thermal system architecture, designing heat exchangers, optimizing airflow, executing thermal simulations, leading product validation, and collaborating with global teams and suppliers to deliver robust, efficient cooling solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design activities for cooling subsystems, including oil coolers, aftercoolers, combined coolers, air-cooled heat exchangers, and heat recovery systems.
  • Execute thermal sizing and components selection for heat exchangers, fans, blowers, ducts, and associated cooling hardware.
  • Optimize sub-system metrics including thermal performance, package footprint, pressure drop, reliability, power consumption and total cost.
  • Develop and validate thermal models using tools such as HTRI and GT-SUITE.
  • Conduct advanced studies covering heat transfer analysis, flow distribution, airflow optimization, pressure drop calculations, and system resistance modelling.
  • Correlate simulation predictions with empirical test data to drive continuous design improvements.
  • Formulate Design Verification plans and comprehensive thermal validation strategies.
  • Analyze test results to identify root causes and resolve thermal performance issues.
  • Own thermal engineering activities across new product development (NPD) and sustaining engineering projects.
  • Mentor New Engineers and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with suppliers of heat exchangers, fans, and blowers to co-develop optimized solutions.
  • Review technical submissions including supplier designs, validation reports, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure design compliance with global standards and regulations, including ASME BPVC, PED, CRN, NR-13, CE, and ISO standards.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Deep technical knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, applied thermal systems, thermodynamics, and psychrometry.
  • Proven track record in air mover selection and thermal testing/validation.
  • Hands-on experience with shell-and-tube, bar-and-plate, brazed plate, and finned-tube heat exchangers design.
  • Proficiency in system modelling using HTRI and GT-SUITE software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills

  • Customer-focused approach to technical problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions independently.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed, global, cross-functional environment.

Education & Experience
