What You'll Be Doing...
Our team, part of the Cloud Network Operations & Engineering (CNOE) organization, is responsible for the operations of various messaging platforms that provide SMS and MMS services to our customers.
- You will support the day-to-day operation and support of the services we provide to our customers and act as an Operations lead for support and troubleshooting, as needed.
- Perform expert-level troubleshooting and debugging of both network and application system issues.
- Implement MOPs for patches and new releases.
- Communicate/coordinate/lead application and external support teams to troubleshoot failures.
- Oversee the reporting of service KPI and performance monitoring for the supported platforms.
- Automate repetitive tasks using agile software development practices and tools such as Ansible, ATLAS, Python, etc.
- Support complex network investigations. Identify and resolve performance issues through detailed packet analysis.
- Proactively collect and analyze data to improve network performance.
- Work with vendors and internal teams to establish KPI requirements to ensure meaningful network reporting and accurate alarming.
- Provide monitoring support during outages and mission-critical network changes.
- Support all Verizon teams and vendors with investigations and data/logs collection.
What We're Looking For...
The Engineer will perform operational functions in the team and is expected to work independently. The Engineer has to possess excellent troubleshooting skills and a good understanding of Verizon Messaging platforms.
You'll Need To Have
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work or specialized training.
- Advanced proficiency in Red Hat Linux (administration, debugging, and performance tuning).
- Messaging Expertise: Familiarity with the protocols that move the world's data: SMPP, HTTP/S, SMTP, and MMS interfaces (MM1, MM4, MM7).
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Master's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a technology-related field.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.
- Complete understanding of IP network services, server load balancing, routing, and protocols, such as HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, SMPP, SNPP, WCTP, XML, SNMP, LDAP.
- Experience with applications hosted in Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP).
- Proven experience in application instantiations in OpenStack.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills of network and application issues.
- Experience in utilizing monitoring tools such as NetScout, SevOne etc.
- Red Hat Linux or equivalent certification or demonstrated Linux experience.
- Experience with packet capture analysis (Wireshark) to detect and solve network or application-related problems.
