Network Support Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Network Support Engineer to provide day-to-day support and maintenance for our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment, firewall operations, and wireless support. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and performance of our network services.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support for Cisco Catalyst switches, including basic port configurations, VLAN assignments, and hardware health monitoring to ensure consistent connectivity.
- Assist with the routine administration of Cisco Firepower (FTD) and ASA firewalls, focusing on basic rule updates, monitoring VPN connectivity, and supporting scheduled patching activities.
- Support the wireless environment by monitoring Cisco Meraki Access Points (APs) via the cloud dashboard, troubleshooting basic office connectivity issues and access points as needed.
- Monitor LAN/WAN performance to identify latency or throughput issues, escalating complex outages to senior engineering teams while maintaining basic documentation of bandwidth usage.
Mandatory Skills
- Proficient in Cisco-ME Ethernet Switches and basic networking concepts.
- Experience with Cisco FTD NGFW and ASA firewall administration.
- Familiarity with Cisco Meraki APs and cloud-based management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for network connectivity issues.
- Experience with network performance monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of Cisco Umbrella is a deal breaker; candidates must have experience with this technology.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as CCNA or equivalent.
- Experience with network documentation and reporting.
- Familiarity with network security best practices.
- Knowledge of additional networking technologies and protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in network support and maintenance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
