Your key responsibilities

• As a Senior Engineer in the new Channel Fraud Monitoring squad, you will be a core individual contributor responsible for the hands-on development of our mission-critical platform. You will focus on writing high-quality, scalable code for the backend services that power our real-time fraud detection capabilities. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer to build, test, and deploy a resilient and performant system.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable backend microservices for the Fraud Monitoring Platform using Java and Spring Boot.
• Partner with the Lead Engineer on solution design and participate actively in code reviews to ensure alignment with architectural principles and maintain high code quality standards.
• Implement robust integrations with internal and external systems.
• Champion a shift-left approach to quality by writing comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for all new features.
• Contribute to the operational health of the platform by participating in troubleshooting, and incident resolution as part of our you build it, you run it culture.
• Collaborate with the DevOps engineer to ensure services are observable, easy to deploy, and meet non-functional requirements for performance and reliability.

Your skills and experience

• Strong, hands-on backend programming experience with the modern Java ecosystem (Java 17+, Spring Boot).
• Overall experience of 9-14 years in software engineering, with a strong focus on building robust, scalable backend systems.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems principles.
• Practical experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems, specifically Kafka.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and an understanding of in-memory data stores/caches (Redis).
• A strong commitment to quality with hands-on experience in writing various levels of automated tests (unit, integration, E2E, BDD).
• Experience working in a cloud-native environment (GCP preferred) and familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues across multiple services.
• A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a lean, focused engineering team.
