Job Summary:

The Data Engineer Renewable Energy will be responsible for designing, operating, and continuously improving Enerparc India's in-house Remote Monitoring and Analytics Platform for utility-scale and C&I renewable energy assets.

The role involves end-to-end ownership of data ingestion, validation, standardization, storage, and availability for analytics and asset management use cases across Solar, Wind, Hybrid, and BESS projects.

The incumbent will work closely with site teams, hardware vendors, software developers, cloud and IT teams, and internal analytics and asset management functions to ensure high-quality, scalable, and analytics-ready data pipelines aligned with Enerparc's digital and monitoring standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering & Platform Operations:
  • Own and manage data pipelines for the in-house Remote Monitoring Platform covering Solar, Wind, Hybrid, and BESS assets.
  • Ensure continuous data ingestion, availability, accuracy, and completeness across all operational sites.
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, reconciliation, and standardization of multi-source time-series operational data.
  • Implement data quality checks, alerts, and monitoring for missing, delayed, or anomalous data.
  • Ensure data is analytics-ready for performance monitoring, reporting, and advanced analysis.
  • Data Integration & Site Connectivity:
  • Design and manage data ingestion from site-level systems including SCADA, inverters, meters, PPCs, weather stations, and BESS controllers.
  • Enable and maintain data transfer using protocols such as SFTP, FTP, MQTT, OPC-UA / OPC-DA, and API-based integrations.
  • Coordinate with site teams and OEMs to troubleshoot communication failures, data drops, and synchronization issues.
  • Support commissioning and onboarding of new sites into the centralized monitoring platform.
  • Data Standards, Governance & Documentation:
  • Define and maintain data standards, naming conventions, tagging structures, KPIs, and metadata frameworks across assets.
  • Develop SOPs and documentation for data ingestion, validation, issue resolution, and platform usage.
  • Ensure consistency of data models across technologies and projects to support benchmarking and portfolio-level analytics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Enerparc's monitoring and analytics frameworks.
  • Developer & Platform Coordination:
  • Act as the primary technical interface with internal and external software developers for:
    • Bug fixes and issue resolution
    • System upgrades and enhancements
    • Preventive maintenance and performance tuning
  • Track development tasks, validate fixes, and support release deployments.
  • Provide functional inputs for new analytics features, dashboards, and reporting requirements.
  • Cloud & Data Infrastructure Coordination:
  • Work closely with internal IT teams to manage cloud-based data infrastructure (primarily AWS).
  • Understand and support data storage architectures, access controls, and system availability.
  • Coordinate on cloud security, cybersecurity policies, access management, and compliance requirements.
  • Support data backup, retention, and recovery strategies.
  • Cross-Functional & Commercial Support:
  • Support Analytics, Asset Management, and O&M teams with reliable, validated data and platform insights.
  • Coordinate with Finance teams on:
    • Developer payments
    • AWS billing and cost tracking
    • Platform-related commercial validations
  • Prepare platform performance summaries and data readiness reports for management.
  • Stakeholder Interaction:
  • Site O&M and Asset Management teams
  • Hardware vendors and OEMs
  • Software developers and analytics teams
  • Internal IT and cybersecurity teams
  • Finance and commercial teams
Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology

(Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, IT, or related field)

Experience

  • 58 years of experience in Data Engineering, SCADA / RMS platforms, or digital operations, preferably in renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure domains.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong experience in data ingestion, cleaning, validation, and standardization for large-scale, multi-site operational data.
  • Hands-on exposure to SCADA / Remote Monitoring Systems and renewable energy asset data.
  • Solid understanding of time-series data and operational data quality management.
  • Experience with data communication protocols: SFTP, FTP, MQTT, OPC-UA / OPC-DA.
  • Working knowledge of AWS cloud architecture, data storage, and access management.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL, Python, or scripting for data checks, automation, and diagnostics.
  • Understanding of cloud security and cybersecurity concepts (coordination level).
