Role accountabilities:
Ability to self-start and work both independently and as a team member carrying out production, checking, review or approval of mechanical design deliverables.
- Supporting and / or Leading design and advisory services relating to new and existing water and wastewater conveyance and treatment assets.
- Ensuring safety of yourself and others through design leadership and actions.
- Technical delivery within a multi-disciplinary team environment, in a mechanical design Lead capacity where assigned, using latest digital design processes and resources.
- Co-ordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA)
- Identify and develop innovative and optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers
- Establish and grow relationships with clients and capital alliance partners on project technical, commercial and progress matters
- Leading and supervising the design team and ensure the project is delivered with high quality within the program and budget
- Liaising with the lead region to demonstrate an understanding of scope, knowledge, and experience to provide innovative design solutions as per best engineering practices.
- Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
- Ensuring projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
- Capturing key project and technical knowledge, including innovations.
- Promote MEICA team capability and achievements both internally and externally.
- Coaching Mentoring of junior staff
- Compliance to the Arcadis Health and Safety standards
- Internally promote and share project achievements and developments
Qualifications Experience:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other directly related degree
- 10+ years experience in designing mechanical and process equipment for water supply water treatment plants, sewerage sewage treatment plants and drainage system.
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (or approaching) and membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IMechE, IET, CIWEM)
- Experience of working on design and construct projects using digital design platforms
- Strong command of BIM / digital/data analytics software as applicable.
- Application of quality management systems and managing project teams
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards is preferable.
- Demonstrated delivery acumen.
Experience in mechanical design, specifications, drawings and BIM models for large scale projects related to,
- Water and Wastewater Treatment plants,
- Pumping stations and other related structures,
- Water and wastewater conveyance systems,
- Drainage systems,
- Flood protection facilities,
- Hydraulic design related to above including hydraulic calculations
- Surge analysis and pipeline surge mitigation preferable
- Experience of delivering designs and reports at all stages from concept through to final project and construction delivery.
- Excellent oral/visual/written communication skills in English language and experience in working with remote clients and multi-disciplinary teams
