Senior Electrical Engineer

Role Description

You will be responsible for leading and overseeing the electrical design functions of renewable energy projects across the UAE, with a primary focus on Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The role covers both Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), ensuring integrated, grid-compliant, and technically optimized solutions.

The position requires strong familiarity with UAE utility regulations and approval processes, including DEWA, ADDC, TRANSCO, and other relevant authorities, ensuring full compliance with local standards, grid codes, and safety requirements. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teamsincluding project managers, engineers, consultants, OEMs, and site teamsto deliver technically robust, compliant, and efficient renewable energy and storage solutions from concept design through commissioning and grid integration.

Key Responsibilities

1.Electrical Design Leadership

Apply strong expertise in electrical engineering principles, UAE utility regulations, and international standards to develop efficient, compliant, and reliable electrical designs for Solar PV and BESS projects.

Lead system design activities including grid interconnection, protection coordination, load flow studies, short-circuit analysis, and integration of battery storage systems with solar and utility networks.

Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements of authorities such as DEWA, ADDC, TRANSCO, and other emirate-level utilities throughout the design, submission, and approval process.

Drive technical optimization, safety compliance, and performance efficiency from concept design through authority approvals, installation, testing, and final commissioning.

2.Project Planning & Execution Management

Partner with project managers and cross-functional teams to define project scope, technical deliverables, timelines, and compliance requirements for both solar and BESS installations.

Prepare detailed engineering work plans, coordinate with stakeholders, consultants, OEMs, and approval authorities, and allocate resources effectively.

Monitor engineering progress and ensure timely, high-quality project delivery across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other UAE markets.

Support risk assessment, value engineering, and cost optimization initiatives during project development and execution.

Qualifications

1.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree is an advantage).

2.DEWA registration as an Electrical Engineer is preferred/mandatory (as applicable to company requirement).

3.Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in electrical design for Solar PV and/or BESS projects within the UAE.

4.Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems, grid integration, electrical distribution systems, and power system analysis.

5.Familiarity with UAE grid codes, protection systems, and renewable energy compliance frameworks.
