Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer – Buildings to be part of the Building Services design team. The role involves delivering electrical design solutions for commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, mixed-use and other building projects, working closely with architectural, structural and other MEP disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop concept, schematic and detailed electrical designs for building projects.
- Carry out electrical load calculations, maximum demand calculations and power distribution studies.
- Design LV electrical distribution systems, including transformers, HT/LT panels, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs and associated distribution networks.
- Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and electrical schematics.
- Design lighting and small power systems, including lighting layouts and associated calculations.
- Undertake cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations, short-circuit calculations and equipment sizing.
- Design electrical infrastructure for DG sets, UPS, emergency power and standby power systems.
- Develop earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Coordinate electrical services with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, ELV, structural and architectural teams.
- Prepare electrical layouts, equipment layouts, riser diagrams, schematic drawings and detailed design documentation.
- Prepare and review BOQs, technical specifications, equipment schedules and design reports.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable NBC, IS, IEC and relevant international/client standards.
- Review drawings and technical deliverables for quality, accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in design coordination meetings and provide technical inputs to project teams.
- Liaise with clients, architects, consultants and other stakeholders as required.
- Support site teams with design clarifications, technical queries and construction-stage requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and support the team in delivering projects within agreed timelines.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Electrical Building Services / MEP design.
- Good knowledge of LV/HV electrical systems and power distribution.
- Experience in electrical load calculations, cable sizing and equipment selection.
- Knowledge of lighting, small power, earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Understanding of ELV systems such as fire alarm, CCTV, access control, data/telecom and PA systems is desirable.
- Good knowledge of relevant Indian and international electrical codes and standards.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
