Job Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and coordination of electrical systems for building and infrastructure projects. This includes power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ELV, and related systems from concept to completion. The role requires close coordination with clients, consultants, architects, and other engineering disciplines to ensure cost-effective and technically sound designs that comply with standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical design process for various building services and industrial projects.
- Prepare and review electrical design drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, load schedules, and specifications.
- Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop calculations, and cable sizing using relevant software (e.g., ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit).
- Develop BOQs, material specifications, and tender documents in coordination with the procurement team.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IS, BS, or local regulations).
- Review and approve shop drawings, materials, and technical submittals from subcontractors or vendors.
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and civil teams for multidisciplinary design integration.
- Conduct site visits to verify design implementation and resolve technical issues during construction.
- Support project teams in testing, commissioning, and handover stages.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers/draughtsman ensure adherence to company quality and safety standards.
- Interface with clients, consultants, and authorities for design approvals and project meetings.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical design within contracting or consulting firms (preferably MEP/building services).
- Strong knowledge of LV and MV systems, lighting, power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, and ELV systems.
- Proficiency in design software: AutoCAD, Revit MEP (added advantage) , ETAP, Dialux, MS Office 365.
- Familiarity with international and local electrical codes (IEC, NEC, IS, BS).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage design deliverables within deadlines and budgets.
- Experience working on commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Preferred Attributes:
- Chartered Engineer or pursuing professional registration (e.g., IEI, IET, or equivalent).
- Experience with BIM workflows and digital project coordination.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Work Environment
- Office-based design work with periodic site visits.
