The Star Alliance office in Singapore coordinates the global activities of the Alliance, including managing joint projects on behalf of its 26 Members.

The Senior Director, Membership position is a leadership position that reports directly to the Vice President Corporate Strategy. In this role you will collaborate extensively with all other Star Alliance team leaders and key Member Airlines stakeholders. The position works closely with Star Alliance team leaders and senior Member Airline stakeholders to ensure the Membership framework supports the Alliance's long-term strategic objectives and delivers clear value to Member Airlines.

This role requires a strategic leader with strong airline industry experience across commercial, operational, and technical functions, as well as the ability to set direction, guide execution, make prioritisation decisions, and lead through a complex multi-airline governance environment.

Job Summary

  • Support Alliance stakeholders in setting the strategic framework for Standards, Core Values, and the Products Portfolio, ensuring delivery is aligned with the Corporate Strategy.
  • Set the strategic direction and oversight framework for the management, quality assurance, and audit of Star Alliance Full Members, Connecting Partners, and Intermodal Partners.
  • Oversee the integration and exit processes for new and departing Members, ensuring strategic alignment, governance discipline, and effective delivery through the Membership team.
  • Ensure business objectives and governance requirements are translated into clear operating frameworks, processes, and accountabilities with Member Airlines.
  • Sponsor and chair the Membership Liaison and Quality Committee, a key governance forum, ensuring clear decisions, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Own the overall Membership, Standards, Core Values, and Products Portfolio roadmap, ensuring clear prioritisation, investment choices, and alignment with Member Airline value creation.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Products Portfolio strategy aligned with Star Alliance's business priorities.
  • Oversee the full Products Portfolio, with clear focus on financial impact, value creation, prioritisation, resource allocation, and ROI.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess product performance, Member value, adoption, cost, and strategic relevance, and recommend adjustments where required.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Principal, Membership on quality management, compliance monitoring, governance preparation, digital collaboration platforms, and Member engagement execution.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the Membership and product organisation.
  • Work closely with Customer Experience, Member Services Enablement, Digital & Technology, Corporate Planning & Business Intelligence, and Marketing to define product, governance, reporting, and go-to-market priorities, with a focus on Member Airline adoption.
  • Communicate portfolio strategies, roadmaps, progress, risks, trade-offs, and expected ROI to executive leadership, stakeholders, and relevant Member Airline teams.
  • Partner with the Corporate Planning & Business Intelligence Director to develop dashboards that support continuous product management, performance tracking, governance oversight, and decision-making.

Your Profile

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in product portfolio management, Membership, airline strategy, governance, quality management, or related leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, aviation, economics, engineering, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience, including direct management of senior professionals and oversight of cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive financial, operational, and strategic results.
  • Ability to inspire and align cross-functional teams, senior stakeholders, and Member Airlines around common objectives.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including a clear understanding of how product, standards, and governance decisions impact value creation and ROI.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategies, decisions, trade-offs, and recommendations at executive level.
  • Experience in business case development, product development analysis, portfolio reviews, roadmap prioritisation, and performance management.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting priorities while maintaining focus on strategic, financial, and governance outcomes.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and converting growth and value-creation opportunities.
  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, with a culture of accountability, performance excellence, and disciplined execution.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions, teams, Member Airlines, and external stakeholders.
  • Airline industry experience is required, with strong understanding of airline and alliance dynamics, market trends, customer needs, governance requirements, and the commercial impact of industry developments.
  • High proficiency in English is essential, as it is the working language for communication with Star Alliance Member Airlines and external stakeholders.
