Job Description

Sutherland is a digital transformation company focused on delivering exceptional experiences for both customers and employees. For over 35 years, we have been entrusted with caring for our clients & customers - a responsibility we believe we should earn every day. We are dedicated to making those experiences as delightful as possible - instantaneous, relevant, predictive, and frictionless. As an early pioneer in robotic automation, we added to our core through steady investment and acquiring key capabilities. Our design capabilities marry human insight, design-thinking, and process engineering. To make these designs come to life as envisioned by our designers, we employ the latest in robotic automation, conversational AI techniques with a range of AI-ML enhanced products and cloud-based platforms.

Role Purpose

The Senior Director – FP&A will act as a strategic finance partner to Digital Services leadership, driving financial planning, forecasting, margin management, and investment discipline across complex delivery models. This role is critical in balancing growth, productivity, and profitability in a high‑velocity, delivery‑intensive environment, requiring managerial courage, strong industrial horsepower, and political savviness to influence outcomes and enforce financial rigor.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Decision Support

  • Lead annual operating plans, rolling forecasts, and long‑range plans for Digital Services portfolios (engineering, data, cloud, AI, platforms).
  • Drive scenario planning around demand volatility, pricing pressure, ramp‑downs, productivity initiatives (AI/ASE), and offshore leverage.
  • Translate GTM, delivery, and capability‑building strategies into financially executable plans.

P&L Ownership & Margin Management

  • Own end‑to‑end P&L analytics including revenue, contribution margin, EBITDA, and cash.
  • Deeply understand delivery cost drivers: utilization, pyramid, bench, subcontracting, tooling, and productivity.
  • Proactively identify margin risks and drive corrective actions with Sales and Delivery leaders.

Managerial Courage

  • Challenge delivery and sales leadership on unplanned investments, margin dilution, weak productivity assumptions, and forecast hygiene.
  • Take firm positions on cost containment, bench discipline, and investment prioritization—even under pressure.
  • Escalate risks early and drive closure with factual, data‑backed arguments.

Industrial Horsepower

  • Operate effectively in a high‑complexity environment with multiple accounts, GDUs, COEs, and global delivery models.
  • Personally engage at depth on numbers while managing large FP&A teams and stakeholders.
  • Handle fast‑moving cycles (monthly/quarterly) without compromising analytical rigor or governance.

Cross Functional Savviness & Influence

  • Partner closely with Delivery, Sales, HR/RMG, Practices/COEs, and Corporate teams to align financial and operational outcomes.
  • Navigate competing priorities between growth, capability investments, and margin protection.
  • Influence senior leaders without authority while maintaining credibility and trust.

Investment & Productivity Governance

  • Evaluate and monitor investments in AI, tools, platforms, COEs, and digital capabilities.
  • Ensure productivity‑linked investments are milestone‑based and outcome‑oriented (similar to ASE/AI governance).
  • Drive standardization and transparency in cost and investment allocation across service lines.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build and lead a high‑performing FP&A organization with strong business‑partnering skills.
  • Drive automation, standard metrics, and actionable dashboards for leadership consumption.
  • Develop future finance leaders with strong commercial and operational acumen.

Key Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in FP&A / Business Finance, preferably in Digital Services, IT Services, or Engineering‑led businesses.
  • Strong understanding of services economics: utilization, pyramid optimization, bench management, pricing, and subcontracting.
  • Proven ability to deliver forecast accuracy, influence senior leadership and drive difficult decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence.

Success Measures

  • Forecast accuracy and credibility
  • Margin and productivity improvement
  • Investment discipline and ROI realization
  • Leadership confidence and FP&A team strength
