About Team
MINT Data Science team is part of the broader Applied AI organization of Walmart US Tech. We are a group of data scientists, machine learning experts, and engineers with the vision of creating competitive intelligence of retail items. We build cutting edge AI technology, leveraging Gen AI, deep learning, NLP/CV models and traditional ML techniques, to improve competitive intelligence that supports the entire company's goals. We are building the next generation of omni-retail platforms to deliver performance and value at scale.
We partner with our product and engineering teams to drive significant measurable business impact. Advanced AI/ML algorithms/models driven by our team help Walmart to optimize experimentation and insights frameworks, business practices, reduce cost and pass those benefits to our customers. The Data Science and ML Engineering community at Walmart Global Tech is active in most of the Hack events, utilizing the petabytes of data at our disposal, to build some of the coolest ideas. All the work we do at Walmart will eventually benefit our operations & our associates, helping Customers Save Money to Live Better.
What You'll Do
Business Thought Partnership: Provide thought leadership and counsel to stakeholders in exploring possible data solutions to address business questions and business needs. Define problem statement. Translate business requirements into data / analytic strategies, initiatives, and projects, align them to business team's strategy and objectives. Synthesize data from different sources, provide actionable business insights and / or analytic solution to stakeholders.
Technical leadership for analytic community: Develop expertise of the data domains that are owned and / or related to the business function that this role supports. Train and coach analytic staffs in mastering technical knowledge of the respective data domains to deliver analytic solutions / insights for business stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 7 years experience in an analytics related field. Option 2: Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 9 years experience in an analytics or related field. 3 years supervisory experience.

What You'll Do
- As a Senior Director of Data Science, you'll have the opportunity to be part of leadership team for the Applied AI group. You will be focused on experimenting and applying machine learning techniques to improve effectiveness of competitive intelligence data. The successful candidate will be able influence algorithm development that will shape our next-gen competitive intelligence. Additionally, the role will entail the following responsibilities:

- Aside from the above, you are expected to:
- Adhere to Walmart's policies, procedures, mission, values, standards of ethics and integrity
- Adopt to Walmart's quality standards, develop/recommend process standards and best practices across the retail industry
- Bachelors/Masters/PhD from a reputed institution
- Minimum of 15 years of data science experience
- Demonstrated history of technology leadership and strong hands-on experience
- Proven records of scientific publications or intellectual property generation
- Past experience in strong programming skills across big data and ML engineering stack
- Strong communication skills with inclination to high ownership and commitment
