About the Role:

The Associate App & Retail AI team at ACI is building the internal associate-facing application used by 200,000+ employees across 2,300+ stores. As a Senior Digital Product Designer, you will be embedded within the Workforce management product team, and will play a key role in shaping intuitive, scalable, and intelligent experiences that support frontline retail operations.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to design end-to-end experiences across mobile and tablet platforms, with a growing focus on AI-powered interactions, automation, and decision support tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Product & Experience Design:

  • Translate product requirements and business goals into end-to-end user experiences — from discovery through production.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma or similar tools.
  • Design for multiple platforms (mobile and tablet), ensuring consistency and usability across devices.
  • Develop user journeys, interaction models, and information architecture for complex workflows.

AI & Intelligent Experience Design:

  • Design conversational interfaces, AI-assisted workflows, and chatbot experiences (voice and text).
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate intelligent features such as recommendations, automation, and predictive experiences.
  • Ensure AI interactions are transparent, explainable, and user-centric (e.g., trust, feedback loops, error handling).
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., generative design tools, prototyping assistants, research synthesis tools) to accelerate design workflows.
  • Stay current with emerging AI design patterns, ethical considerations, and human-AI interaction principles.

User Research & Data-Driven Design:

  • Plan and conduct UX research (usability testing, interviews, field studies, surveys).
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions.
  • Use analytics, A/B testing, and behavioral data to iterate and optimize experiences.
  • Advocate for user-centered design through evidence-based insights.

Design Systems & Scalability:

  • Contribute to and maintain a scalable design system, ensuring consistency across the product ecosystem.
  • Define reusable components, interaction patterns, and documentation.
  • Partner with engineering to ensure accurate implementation and design quality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to product strategy discussions.
  • Communicate design rationale clearly through presentations, storytelling, and documentation.

Accessibility & Inclusive Design:

  • Ensure designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and support diverse user needs.
  • Design for varying levels of digital literacy, especially in frontline retail environments.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Identify usability issues and proactively propose improvements.
  • Explore emerging technologies, tools, and design trends to continuously evolve the product.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to growing the design culture.

Experience Required:

  • 8–10 years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX/UI design for mobile applications.
  • Proven experience designing for phone, desktop and tablet
  • Demonstrated ability to design conversational AI, chatbot flows, or other AI-embedded interaction patterns.
  • Strong UX research capability — comfortable planning, executing, and synthesizing research to drive design decisions.
  • Experience working within Agile product teams in close collaboration with product managers and engineers.
  • Background in enterprise, workforce, or consumer applications with large-scale user bases is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with Retail or frontline workforce contexts is a strong plus.
