Role Overview
We are hiring a DevOps/Platform Engineer to design, operate, and evolve cloud infrastructure
that supports HIPAA-compliant healthcare platforms processing Protected Health
Information (PHI).
This role is for engineers who have operated real production systems, understand how
infrastructure fails under load, and treat security, reliability, and auditability as core
engineering responsibilities.
You will work closely with backend and AI engineers to ensure systems are secure, observable,
scalable, and cost-controlled, while meeting SOC 2/HITRUST-style compliance expectations.
Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Ownership
- Design, provision, and operate cloud infrastructure for healthcare workloads
- Support integration-heavy, asynchronous systems built on APIs, queues, and
background processing
- Ensure infrastructure supports high-volume document ingestion, AI pipelines, and
long-running workflows
Deployment & CI/CD
- Own deployment pipelines for:
Backend services, AI pipelines and data processing jobs
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines with:
Controlled promotions across environments
Rollback and recovery strategies and environment parity (dev / staging / prod)
Observability & Reliability
- Build and maintain observability across the stack:
Metrics, centralized logging and alerting and incident signals
- Drive infrastructure decisions around:
Scalability and fault tolerance, cost efficiency and capacity planning
Security and access isolation
- Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews
Technology Stack (Expected Familiarity)
Cloud & Infrastructure
Cloud Provider: AWS preferred (GCP familiarity acceptable)
Core Services
- Compute: Lambda and/or service-based workloads
- Messaging: SQS or equivalent queue systems
- Networking: VPCs, private subnets & security groups
- IAM: Least-privilege role design and service-to-service authentication
Infrastructure Practices
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- Multi-environment isolation: dev / staging / prod
- Secure secrets management and Controlled configuration and change management
Observability & Reliability
- Structured, centralized logging
- Metrics for latency, throughput, error rates, and saturation
- Alerting tied to meaningful service health indicators
- Incident readiness and post-incident analysis
Security, Privacy & Compliance (Non-Negotiable)
Expected experience or strong awareness of:
HIPAA-Aligned Infrastructure Practices
- Encryption at rest and in transit, network segmentation & secure secrets handling
Access Control & Auditability
- IAM role design and least-privilege enforcement
- audit logs for infrastructure and service access
Compliance Framework Awareness
- SOC 2 (Security, Availability, Confidentiality)
- HITRUST control concepts and mappings
