PETADATA is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer Multi-Cloud Infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure) with strong experience in cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable deployment solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Application Modernization
Analyze the existing application end-to-end, including runtime dependencies, environment variables, secrets, databases, networking, and infrastructure assumptions.
Containerize applications using Docker and ensure builds are reproducible and production-ready.
Establish a clean separation between application code, configuration, and infrastructure.
Transform loosely structured infrastructure requirements into clear, maintainable, and production-ready solutions.
Multi-Cloud Infrastructure & Terraform
Design, develop, and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Build reusable Terraform modules for compute, networking, storage, managed databases, IAM, secrets, and observability.
Design a cloud-agnostic infrastructure architecture with thin provider-specific layers to maximize portability.
Manage Terraform remote state, state locking, workspaces/environments, and module structures across development, staging, and production.
Provision and manage cloud-native services across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Deploy containerized workloads using Kubernetes (EKS/GKE/AKS) or managed serverless container platforms such as ECS/Fargate, Cloud Run, and Azure Container Apps.
CI/CD & Automation
Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or equivalent technologies.
Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform plan/apply workflows, approvals, and deployment pipelines.
Build repeatable deployment and environment-management processes.
Security & Secrets Management
Implement secure secrets management using AWS Secrets Manager, GCP Secret Manager, Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault, or equivalent solutions.
Ensure secrets are never stored in source code or plaintext configuration.
Establish least-privilege IAM and secure access controls across cloud environments.
Implement network isolation, encryption at rest, and encryption in transit.
Establish infrastructure security baselines and support compliance requirements where applicable.
Networking & Data Infrastructure
Design secure cloud networking using VPCs, VNets, subnets, routing, firewalls, private connectivity, DNS, TLS, and egress controls.
Build infrastructure that supports secure movement of data between source and target systems.
Provision and tune managed databases and object storage, including RDS, Cloud SQL, Azure SQL, S3, GCS, and Azure Blob Storage.
Design infrastructure for data-heavy and long-running workloads involving large transfers, retries, idempotency, and operational resilience.
Reliability, Observability & Disaster Recovery
Implement backup, disaster recovery, rollback, and recovery strategies.
Establish centralized logging, metrics, alerting, and environment-level dashboards.
Monitor system health and infrastructure performance across multiple cloud providers.
Design reliable infrastructure capable of supporting production workloads and data migration operations.
Cost Optimization & Operational Ownership
Monitor and optimize infrastructure spend across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Evaluate where multi-cloud parity provides business value and where it may introduce unnecessary cost or complexity.
Identify infrastructure bottlenecks, operational risks, and opportunities for optimization.
Own infrastructure outcomes end-to-end, including design, implementation, documentation, deployment, and operational reliability.
Note: Should be able to work independently and work in USA time zones
Required Skills
6+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
Strong hands-on Terraform experience, including reusable modules, remote state, state locking, workspaces, provider configuration, and infrastructure management at scale.
Production experience with at least two of AWS, GCP, and Azure, with the ability to quickly ramp up on the third cloud platform.
AWS / GCP / Azure cloud infrastructure experience, with strong understanding of compute, networking, storage, databases, IAM, and managed services.
Docker and containerization fundamentals with experience deploying production applications using containers.
Experience with Kubernetes such as EKS, GKE, or AKS, or managed serverless container platforms.
Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or equivalent.
Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
Strong understanding of cloud networking, including DNS, TLS, VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, firewalls, and private connectivity.
Strong scripting skills using Bash and preferably Python or Go.
Practical experience with secrets management and secure credential handling.
Strong understanding of cloud IAM and least-privilege security design.
Ability to take an existing prototype or loosely structured codebase and make it production-ready with minimal supervision.
Strong ownership, architectural decision-making, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience migrating applications from PaaS, hosted IDEs, or single-vendor environments to self-managed cloud infrastructure.
Experience with multi-cloud abstraction technologies such as Crossplane, Pulumi, or Terragrunt.
Experience with service meshes and cloud-agnostic infrastructure patterns.
Experience with data-heavy infrastructure, managed databases at scale, ETL/data pipelines, or large-object transfer optimization.
Experience with Airflow, Dagster, CDC tooling, or similar data orchestration technologies.
Experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD, Flux, or Helm.
Knowledge of Policy-as-Code and infrastructure security/testing tools such as OPA, Sentinel, tfsec, Checkov, or Terratest.
Experience with FinOps and multi-cloud cost optimization.
Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR.
Experience mentoring engineers and establishing infrastructure standards and best practices for engineering teams.
