Job Description – Sr. DevOps Engineer (Azure + Microsoft Fabric)

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in Azure Cloud and Microsoft Fabric to design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.

The role will primarily focus on Terraform-driven infrastructure automation, Azure DevOps pipeline engineering, and end-to-end deployment across Dev Test environments, ensuring scalable, secure, and governed data platform operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Cloud Provisioning
• Design and develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision Azure and Fabric environments.
• Create reusable Terraform modules for:
• Azure resources (Storage, Networking, Compute, Key Vault, etc.)
• Microsoft Fabric components (Workspaces, Lakehouses, Pipelines where applicable)
• Ensure infrastructure is repeatable, version-controlled, and environment-specific (Dev/Test/Prod).
• Implement environment provisioning, replication, and configuration management.
• CI/CD Pipeline Engineering
• Build and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for:
• Data pipelines (Fabric Data Pipelines, Spark notebooks)
• Application and infrastructure deployments
• Enable end-to-end deployment lifecycle (Dev Test Production).
• Implement:
• Version control (Git integration)
• Automated testing and validation
• Deployment approvals and rollback strategies
• Microsoft Fabric Platform DevOps
• Develop CI/CD strategy for:
• Fabric Data Pipelines
• Lakehouse structures (Bronze / Silver / Gold)
• Semantic models and Power BI artifacts
• Implement environment parameterization and release pipelines.
• Manage artifact versioning and promote across environments.
• Automation & Workflow Orchestration
• Automate:
• Data ingestion pipelines
• Infrastructure provisioning
• Deployment validation workflows
• Enable pipeline orchestration and dependency management across Fabric and Azure services.
• Monitoring, Observability & Reliability
• Implement monitoring using:
• Azure Monitor
• Log Analytics
• Pipeline execution monitoring (success/failure tracking)
• Configure:
• Alerts and notifications
• SLA tracking
• Failure recovery mechanisms
• Security & Governance Enablement
• Implement RBAC, identity management, and access controls across Azure and Fabric.
• Integrate with:
• Azure Key Vault (secrets management)
• Microsoft Purview (data governance and lineage)
• Ensure compliance with enterprise data governance and DevOps best practices.
• Collaboration & Engineering Support
• Work closely with:
• Data Engineers (pipelines, transformation)
• Data Architects (Medallion architecture)
• Platform teams (security, governance)
• Provide guidance on:
• CI/CD best practices
• Infrastructure automation standards
• Troubleshoot deployment issues and optimize pipelines.
  

Required Skills & Experience

Core Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in:
• Terraform (mandatory – IaC primary tool)
• Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Repos, YAML)
• Microsoft Azure Services (Compute, Networking, Storage)
• Experience in CI/CD implementation including build, release, and deployment automation.
  

Fabric & Data Platform Skills

• Hands-on exposure or strong understanding of:
• Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Pipelines, Spark)
• Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
• Experience integrating DevOps with:
• Data pipelines
• Analytics and reporting layers
  

Automation & Scripting

• Proficiency in:
• YAML (pipeline definitions)
• PowerShell / Python / Bash scripting
• Experience with:
• Git (branching, merging, version control)
  

Containers & Advanced DevOps — Good to Have

• Experience with:
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Helm, ArgoCD (optional but valuable)
  

Monitoring & Reliability

• Experience with:
