Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Designer Civil & Structural with extensive experience in the Oil & Gas sector for Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India
The Role
- Specialist Designer in Civil 3D Modelling & extraction of earth work drawing including specific Detailing
- 10+ year experience in earthwork, site grading, roads, drainage, ponds, and above-ground pipeline corridors
- Experience in various coordinate systems and geodetic elevation references
- S3D/E3D Experience in 3D modelling and extraction Smart Sketch/E3D draft will be added advantage.
- 2D drawing in Microstation/AutoCAD experience required
- Experience in at least one Oil & Gas project in Civil works
- Must have sound technical knowledge in Earth works
- Hands on experience on model review/Clash check in SPR/Navis review platform is advantageous.
- Canadian Oil and Gas project experience will be added advantage
Technical / Domain Related Skills
- Experience working on heavy civil engineering projects with significant cut and fill
- Open pit mining
- Road corridors through varying terrain
- Above-ground Pipeline corridors through varying terrain
- Tailings projects,
- Ponds / Earthen dams
- Buried metal bridges (arch / culverts)
- Experience in production of deliverables Processing topographic data (from LiDAR, satellite, ground surveys, etc.) for use on the projects.
- Generating 3D models for earthworks including site preparation, rough grading, final grading and surface drainage, ditches, ponds, roads, embankments using Civil 3D
- Develop cut / fill quantities from models
- Preparation of engineering deliverables within the scope assigned
- Site preparation for cold climate area e.g. Northern Alberta, Canada (including rough grading of the plant site and pipeline corridors is added advantage
- Detailing of earth work deliverables for Access roads, haul roads and service roads along the pipeline corridors
- Drainage including culverts / storm water management of the plant site and along the pipeline corridors
- Experience in detailing Ponds - storm water drainage pond, emergency dump ponds including liner and leakage detection
- Experience in Erosion control and protection
- Experience in earth work related to Underground pipelines and utilities

Responsibilities
- Civil designer -Taking responsibility of engineering of the assigned Civil works
- Modeling as per inputs & Extracting /checking of Drawings
- Reporting to Lead Civil Engineer
- Coordination with other disciplines & project
- Meeting the project schedules on submissions of Civil deliverables
- Ensuring all deliverables are comply with quality as per Wood /Client specifications & standards.
- Interpretation of vendor drawings/other discipline drawings for Civil deliverables requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma degree in Civil & Structural or a related discipline.
- 916 years of hands-on experience in Civil 3D & prepare Earth works drawing.
- Able to communicate in good English with other disciplines in effective manner.
- Willing to have patience to face work pressure & changes.
- Must be able to work in a team with work share basis
