Database Architect Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and forwardthinking Database Architect to design implement and manage enterprisegrade database solutions across both Azure Cloud and onpremises infrastructure The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in relational NoSQL graph vector databases related tools and will play a key role in shaping the data strategy ensuring scalability performance and security across all platforms

Key Responsibilities

Architecture Design

Design and implement scalable secure and highperformance database solutions across Azure and onpremises environments

Develop data models and schemas for structured and unstructured data

Architect hybrid data solutions integrating cloudnative services with legacy systems

SQL Server Database Azure Cloud

Extensive experience in SQL Server and SQL Server Database Administration on Azure cloud and onpremise

Extensive experience on Azure cloud technologies at intermediate or advanced level

Database Technologies

Lead implementation and optimization of databases including

Relational SQL Server PostgreSQL Oracle

Cloudnative Azure SQL Database Azure SQL Managed Instance SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines IaaS Cosmos DB

Graph Neo4j Azure Cosmos DB Gremlin API

Vector Milvus Azure AI Search vector capabilities

Migration Modernization

Lead endtoend migration of onpremises databases to Azure including assessment planning execution and validation

Modernize legacy database platforms using Azurenative services such as Azure SQL Cosmos DB and Azure Synapse

Utilize tools like Azure Migrate Data Migration Assistant DMA and Database Migration Service DMS

Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations

Azure Arc Integration

Extend Azure management and governance to onpremises and multicloud database environments using Azure Arc

Enable unified policy security and monitoring across hybrid data assets

Deploy and manage Azureenabled SQL Server and PostgreSQL instances outside Azure using Azure Arc

Azure VMware Solution AVS

Architect and manage database workloads within Azure VMware Solution AVS environments

Migrate and optimize SQL Server and other database workloads on AVS using best practices for high availability and performance

Leverage AVS components such as vSphere vSAN NSXT and vCenter for hybrid cloud database operations

Integrate AVShosted databases with Azurenative services and ensure compliance with enterprise security standards

Cloud Integration Monitoring

Leverage Azure services such as Azure Synapse Azure Data Factory and Azure Monitor for data orchestration and observability

Use Kusto Query Language KQL to build custom dashboards and reports in Azure Monitor Log Analytics and Application Insights

Performance Optimization

Conduct performance tuning indexing strategies and query optimization

Monitor and troubleshoot database performance across environments

Security Compliance

Ensure data security encryption and compliance with industry standards

Implement rolebased access control and auditing mechanisms

Collaboration Leadership

Work closely with data engineers software developers and DevOps teams

Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior database staff

Qualifications

Proven experience with Azure Cloud Azure Arc and Azure VMware Solution AVS

Strong knowledge of Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL and Cosmos DB

Handson experience migrating and modernizing onpremises databases to Azure

Familiarity with graph databases eg Neo4j Gremlin and vector databases eg Milvus Azure AI Search

Proficiency in Kusto Query Language KQL for Azure resource monitoring and reporting

Proficiency with CICD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code IaC tools like Ansible and Microsoft ADO Pipelines

Excellent problemsolving and communication skills

Preferred Certifications

Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator Associate

Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Oracle Certified Professional OCP
