Overall, Job Objective:

A Database Administrator (DBA) specializing in Oracle and SQL Server with High Availability (HA) is responsible for the design, implementation, and 24/7 maintenance of critical data systems. This dual-platform role ensures zero data loss and minimal downtime through advanced clustering and failover technologies. Serving as the primary escalation point for database-related incidents, bridging technology and operations by optimizing configurations, resolving complex issues, and supporting business critical applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Design and manage complex HA solutions including Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, and Failover Clustering.
• Installation & Configuration: Deploy and upgrade multiple versions of Oracle (e.g., 12c, 19c) and Microsoft SQL Server on physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor system health, tune SQL queries, optimize indexes, and manage database configurations to prevent performance degradation.
• Security & Compliance: Implement robust security measures, manage user permissions, apply patches, and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
• Backup & Recovery: Establish and test comprehensive backup strategies to guarantee rapid recovery from system failures or data corruption.

Technical Skills Required:

• Database Engines: Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database architecture.
• Languages: Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL (SQL Server), and PL/SQL (Oracle) for scripting and automation.
• Infrastructure: Understanding of underlying operating systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix), networking, and storage technologies like ASM (Automatic Storage Management).
• Tools: Experience with management consoles like SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) and OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager)

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related STEM field.
• Professional Experience: Typically 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience in enterprise-level, 24/7 production environments.
• Certifications: Preferred certifications include Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or relevant Microsoft SQL Server credentials.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, excellent communication for cross-team collaboration, capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively and the ability to handle on-call support duties
• Hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar supply chain solutions is strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding of supply chain systems and their interaction with broader business processes.
• General familiarity with automation infrastructure in distribution and logistics environments.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
