About the role
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.
What You Will Do
- Managing various cloud databases in AWS like PostgreSQL and MSSQL.
- Responsible for database maintenance and upgrades.
- Database performance monitoring, activity auditing, anomaly detection and alerting.
- Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.
- Ensure high availability, backup and recovery as per SLA and compliance requirements.
- Develop and Implement process for optimising Data Security.
- Proactively respond to production infrastructure alerts and warnings, mitigate production issues and transform incident lessons into automation, documentation to prevent a recurrence.
- Discuss and contribute towards architectural and design decisions with the team and developers in optimising complex queries.
- Participate in datastore related infrastructure POCs.
- Other common DBA activities like configuration management, troubleshooting, performance Tuning, schema management, storage management, log management etc.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field of study.
- Strong analytical skills with problem-solving; good documentation and communication skills.
- 4+ years experience in the software industry with PostgreSQL, MSSQL.
- Experience in database administration, design, development, maintenance, and production support of relational databases and business applications.
- Knowledge of AWS Environment.
- General database administration skills in AWS.
- Exposure to database monitoring/observability and alerting.
- Exposure to handling on-call incidents (incident management and troubleshooting).
- Prior experience with database health reporting.
- Exposure to performance tuning, query optimization, client/server connectivity, and database consistency checks using different utilities.
- Good to have - Database hardening and compliance
- Good to have DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Redis, MySQL.
