Job Summary:We are looking for an experienced Senior IBM DB2 LUW DBA to design, manage, and support large-scale, mission-critical database environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in DB2 LUW on Linux/UNIX, performance tuning, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery, with proven experience in 247 production environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, implement, and administer IBM DB2 LUW databases on Linux/UNIX (RHEL/AIX) for large multi-terabyte environments
- Configure and support partitioned databases (DPF/MPP) and optimize data distribution strategies
- Implement and manage replication technologies such as Q Replication, CDC/IIDR for real-time and batch data movement
- Plan and execute database installations, fix packs, upgrades, migrations, and cross-platform moves with minimal downtime
- Perform advanced performance tuning including:
- SQL tuning and access plan analysis
- Index strategy and physical database design
- Tablespaces, bufferpools, and partitioning optimization
- Design and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies including online backups, HADR, and DR drills
- Provide 247 production support and participate in on-call rotations for critical systems
- Implement and enforce database security, auditing, and compliance controls
- Automate routine DBA tasks using Shell scripting (Bash/Korn) and scheduling tools (Control-M or equivalent)
- Collaborate with application, ETL/ELT, and infrastructure teams for schema design, release management, and issue resolution
- Lead root-cause analysis for major incidents and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
Required Skills & Expertise (Highlights):Core DB2 Skills- IBM DB2 LUW administration (10+ years)
- DB2 utilities: BACKUP/RESTORE, REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, IMPORT/EXPORT
- Performance tools: db2pd, mon_get functions, explain plans
High Availability & DR- HADR, log shipping, DR planning & testing
- Experience with TSA / cluster managers
- Exposure to pureScale (preferred)
Replication & Data Movement- Q Replication / CDC / IIDR
- Monitoring, conflict handling, and performance optimization
Operating System & Automation- Strong Linux/UNIX (RHEL/AIX) administration skills
- Shell scripting (Bash / Korn)
- Enterprise monitoring and scheduling tools
Environment & Soft Skills- Experience in 247 mission-critical environments
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams under strict SLAs
Nice to Have:- Experience with large data warehouse environments
- Exposure to cloud or hybrid DB2 deployments
- Knowledge of enterprise security and auditing tools
