Senior Database administrator

GENERAL SUMMARY (No more than three sentences)

Provide database/application administration and support for the Information Management Analytical Service responsible for data integration, data warehouse, and business intelligence (including enterprise reporting, predictive analytics, data mining, and self-service solutions). Work with various teams to provide database/application administration, job scheduling/execution, and code deployment support.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provide database support as part of a team for Big Data tools. Duties include maintenance tasks, performance tuning, monitoring as well as developer support.
2. Provide administrative support for the application toolset required to code, test, and troubleshoot applications for new development and on-going support. Duties include application administration, job scheduling/execution, and code deployment.
3. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation responsible for enterprise job scheduler activities, which often includes assisting various teams with troubleshooting code, connection, and data integrity issues.
4. Follow documented ITIL processes to complete incidents, requests, and other tasks utilizing a service management system.
5. Create and/or update technical documentation related to team activities as needed.
6. Installation, upgrade, and configuration of application toolset.
7. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS - Education

Required:

• Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience

Experience and Skills

Required:

• 5 years work experience in IT
• Experience with Cloud Database Administration (Snowflake, Vertica, Redshift, Impala, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc. )
• Experience with installing and configuring commercial applications at the OS level
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

Preferred:

• Experience with scripting in Linux and Windows
• Experience with Terraform
• Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge
