Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data QA Tester with strong expertise in Data Testing, ETL validation, and Data Warehouse/Data Lake testing across enterprise-scale applications. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in modern data platforms, strong SQL and Python/PySpark skills, and prior experience working with UK-based clients/projects.
The Senior Data QA Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data across multiple systems and platforms. This role involves validating complex data transformations, conducting end-to-end testing across data pipelines, identifying data discrepancies, and collaborating closely with data engineers, developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to maintain high-quality data standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies and test cases for enterprise data platforms.
- Perform Data Warehouse, ETL, Data Lake, and backend database testing.
- Validate data transformations, mappings, reconciliation, and migration activities across source and target systems.
- Execute testing against modern data applications including APIs, GUI, and client-side packages.
- Work on structured and unstructured data validation across multiple formats such as JSON, XML, CSV, and Parquet.
- Develop and execute automated and manual data validation scripts using Python/PySpark and SQL.
- Perform API, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
- Analyze defects, conduct root cause analysis, and work with development teams for resolution.
- Validate large datasets for completeness, consistency, accuracy, and integrity.
- Enhance and maintain existing testing frameworks and automation utilities.
- Support CI/CD testing activities and release validations.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate effectively with onsite/offshore teams and UK stakeholders.
- Prepare test reports, QA metrics, and status updates for leadership and project teams.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise data governance and compliance standards including GDPR where applicable.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in QA engineering with strong focus on Data Testing.
- Strong experience working with UK-based clients/projects/stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience in ETL Testing, Data Warehouse Testing, and Data Validation.
- Strong SQL skills with experience in complex query writing and backend testing.
- Experience in Data testing using Python, PySpark, SQL in Data Warehouse or Data Lake environments.
- Experience with traditional and modern databases/platforms including S3 and cloud-based data systems.
- Strong understanding of DWH concepts, ETL workflows, and Medallion Architecture.
- Experience in API Testing and Integration Testing.
- Familiarity with data formats such as JSON, XML, CSV, Avro, and Parquet.
- Experience with enterprise databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with defect management and test management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or ALM.
- Experience with automation frameworks/tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
