Role & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Design conceptual, logical and physical data models for enterprise data onboarding
and analytics use cases.
- Define modelling patterns for Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse and Power BI
semantic consumption.
- Support the implementation of bronze, silver and gold data layers using Medallion
Architecture principles.
- Design conformed dimensions, fact tables, reference data structures, master data
views and analytics-ready datasets.
- Define model grain, business keys, surrogate keys, relationships, hierarchies and
history handling.
- Create source-to-target mappings and work with engineers to turn modelling
designs into working data assets.
- Help define reusable Silver-layer datasets that are more than cleansed copies of
source systems.
- Design Gold-layer models around reporting, KPIs, business questions and decision-
making needs.
- Work with domain teams to understand business processes, data ownership, key
metrics and analytical requirements.
- Support Power BI semantic model design by ensuring data structures are clear,
performant and business-friendly.
- Document business definitions, model assumptions, lineage, data quality rules and
known limitations.
- Work with governance teams to align models with naming standards, glossary
terms, metadata and access requirements.
- Participate in architecture reviews, data model reviews and discussions around
shared enterprise definitions.
- Help reduce duplicated reporting datasets and inconsistent KPI logic across the
organization.
Ideal Candidate
- Strong Senior Data Modeller profile (Microsoft Fabric / Medallion Architecture)
- Mandatory (Experience 1) – Must have 6+ years of experience in Data Modeling or Enterprise Data Architecture, with strong hands-on expertise in designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data platforms.
- Mandatory (Experience 2) – Must have hands-on experience designing data models on Microsoft Fabric, specifically Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse and OneLake, within a modern Lakehouse architecture.
- Mandatory (Experience 3) – Must have strong hands-on dimensional modeling expertise, including star schemas, fact tables, conformed dimensions, slowly changing dimensions (SCDs), grain definition, business keys and surrogate keys
- Mandatory (Experience 4) – Must have proven experience designing data models across Bronze, Silver and Gold layers using Medallion Architecture principles, including reusable business-aligned Silver datasets and consumption-ready Gold analytical models
- Mandatory (Experience 5) – Must have strong SQL expertise, with the ability to read transformation logic, understand joins and aggregations, define source-to-target mappings, and validate that implemented logic matches the intended business model.
- Mandatory (Experience 6) – Must have experience designing analytics-ready datasets for BI/reporting consumption and supporting semantic model design (e.g. Power BI), ensuring data structures are clear, performant and business-friendly.
- Mandatory (Experience 7) – Must have experience documenting business definitions, source-to-target mappings, lineage, data quality rules and model assumptions, and collaborating across architects, data engineers, analysts and business stakeholders.
- Preferred (Experience) – Familiarity with broader Azure data services and data product-oriented delivery.
- Preferred (Domain) – Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale data environments, and Agile delivery.
