We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Data Engineer to design, build, and support scalable data integration and analytics solutions within a healthcare environment. This role will focus on ingesting, transforming, and managing healthcare data across multiple domainsincluding medical and pharmacy claims, eligibility and enrollment, provider data, and interoperability feedswhile ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and data standards.
The ideal candidate brings strong Azure data engineering skills, deep SQL expertise, and subject matter familiarity with healthcare data models and integration standards.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and related Azure services.
- Build and optimize data warehousing solutions supporting healthcare analytics, reporting, and downstream integrations.
- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance-tuned transformations across SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Ingest, normalize, and curate healthcare datasets including:
- Medical and pharmacy claims
- Eligibility and enrollment data
- Provider / practitioner and network data
- HRA, PBM, and other vendor-supplied datasets
- Implement and support healthcare data integrations leveraging:
- EDI/X12 transactions (e.g., 837, 835, 834, 270/271)
- HL7 and FHIR-based interoperability feeds
- Collaborate with data analysts, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate healthcare business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Manage source control, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes using Azure DevOps.
- Ensure solutions comply with HIPAA and organizational data governance, security, and privacy standards.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines for reliability, accuracy, and performance.
- Document data flows, schemas, transformations, and operational processes.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data integration roles
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Azure Data Factory
- SQL (advanced querying and optimization)
- SQL Server and Oracle
- ETL / ELT design and implementation
- Data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
- Azure DevOps (repos, pipelines, work item tracking)
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats (CSV, JSON, XML)
