Data Engineer (46 Years) Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a strong BI and analytics focus to help drive data-informed decision-making across the organization.
This role is suited for professionals with 46 years of experience in data engineering and analytics. You will work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and leadership to build scalable data pipelines, create analytics-ready datasets, and deliver impactful dashboards. You will also contribute to data architecture, reliability, and best practices across the data stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions
- Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple data sources
- Extract, transform, and manage data from platforms such as Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake, and related systems
- Develop analytics-ready datasets and reusable data models
- Build and maintain BI dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
- Ensure data quality, validation, documentation, and governance standards are followed
- Improve query performance and support cost-efficient data processing
- Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices
Required Skills
SQL
- Strong expertise in advanced SQL, including joins, window functions, and CTEs
- Experience with query optimization and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake SQL and/or BigQuery SQL
Programming
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience with Pandas, PySpark, scripting, and automation
Data Engineering
- Solid understanding of data warehouse design, including star and snowflake schemas
- Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and reusable data models
Cloud and Platforms
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, and/or Databricks
- Exposure to at least one cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with object storage such as S3, GCS, or ADLS
Big Data
- Strong experience with Apache Spark (PySpark / Spark SQL)
- Experience with batch processing is required
- Exposure to streaming pipelines is a plus
Version Control / DevOps
- Experience with Git
- Familiarity with CI/CD for data workflows is an advantage
Experience
- 46 years of relevant experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
- Proven track record of building production-grade pipelines and business-focused datasets/dashboards
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments
