Job Description

A Senior Credit Manager for Business Banking (BBG) isresponsible for evaluating, approving, and monitoring credit proposals for business clients, managing the credit portfolio to mitigate risk, and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulations. This role involves detailed financial analysis, risk assessment, strategic portfolio management, and collaboration with other internal teams like relationship managers and legal departments.

Key responsibilities

Credit evaluation and approval:

  • Assess and approve credit proposals for various products like term loans, working capital, and letters of credit.
  • Conduct detailed credit appraisals, including financial statement analysis and risk assessment for both fund-based and non-fund-based exposures.
  • Make decisions on credit limits, approvals, and denials.
  • Ensure that underwriting and other processes adhere to the bank's risk appetite and guidelines.

Portfolio management:

  • Monitor the assigned credit portfolio for delinquency, risk triggers, and potential stress.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including early warning systems.
  • Track loan utilization, repayment capacity, and covenants.
  • Manage renewals and develop strategies for the portfolio in conjunction with the business team.

Risk and compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis and risk mitigation actions.
  • Oversee statutory and internal audits related to the business banking segment.
  • Ensure adherence to board-level policies.

Collaboration and strategy:

  • Collaborate with relationship teams, legal departments, and other internal teams.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other credit managers.
  • Track market factors, economic developments, and industry trends to inform strategies.
  • Communicate insights and best practices across the team.

Client interaction:

  • Meet with prospective clients to understand their needs and evaluate their businesses.
  • Structure proposals and deals within the bank's guidelines and client requirements.
