About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Control Management Specialist

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures within Control Management functional area
  • Provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and business controls
  • Monitor moderately complex business specific programs and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
  • Provide guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of business specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk
  • Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher. Relevant certifications will be an advantage
  • Experience in automation / advanced excel / reporting will be an advantage
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of industry standards and best practices around quality assurance, control design, control evaluation/ testing, internal audit and risk management processes

Job Expectations:

  • Reviewing and enhancing the control inventory framework by harmonizing controls and stabilizing control library
  • Participate in identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures within Control Management functional area
  • Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging issues associated with leveraging the control taxonomy
  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
  • Enhance control management capabilities in support of control monitoring, reporting and central program and FL visibility
  • Develop and maintain common controls considerations for regulatory requirements to reduce inconsistency/ redundancy (I.e., Financial Crimes)
  • Evaluate high/critical issues to determine thematic topics to be highlighted to Senior Leadership
  • Co-ordinate across central programs to integrate escalation and reporting routines
  • Assess impact of large risk events, test findings, etc.. on control suites and residual risk
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of control inventory and remediate for inactive and orphan controls
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of gap controls and issue alignment within prescribed timelines
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of BG/EFs automated, manual and QA/QC control populations
  • Support horizontal automation across BGs/EFs (e.g., Operations)
  • Evaluate the Control Taxonomy under supervision in an effective and timely manner
  • Provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and business controls
  • Monitor moderate to complex business specific programs
  • Control Design or internal control evaluation experience would be advantageous
  • Familiar with various quality assurance and quality control techniques
  • Experience in executing control testing programs, including the development of consistent standards and methodologies
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and best practices around monitoring, testing, quality assurance and risk management processes
  • Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, able to ask well-crafted questions and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner, good listener who embraces creative thinking and teamwork
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially with difficult topics when partnering with senior management under supervision. This includes the willingness and ability to question decisions, understand direction and escalate issues, where necessary.
  • Effectively communicates in both written and verbal formats with senior executive-level leaders with limited supervision
  • Skilled on Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with an ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions with a track-record for delivering results
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality output without supervision
