Job Description:
Data Analytics & AI Senior Consultant designs and delivers modern analytics and AI solutions that help clients turn data into actionable insights. This role is client-facing and consulting-oriented, requiring strong requirements gathering, solution shaping, and end-to-end delivery skills. The Senior Consultant leads Power BI and Microsoft Fabric implementations, from data ingestion and transformation through semantic modeling and reporting, while enforcing strong quality, governance, and performance standards. You will mentor junior team members, provide technical direction, and collaborate with client stakeholders and internal practice leads to drive measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Analytics Solutions Delivery (Power BI + Business Outcomes)
- Lead the design and delivery of Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models aligned to business objectives and KPI definitions.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into user stories, a clearly defined scope of work, and an implementable solution approach (including assumptions, dependencies, and risks).
- Build scalable, reusable reporting patterns (standard visuals, KPI frameworks, report templates, certified datasets/semantic models).
- Present insights and solution designs to technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring the message to the stakeholder.
Microsoft Fabric Data Engineering & Architecture
- Design and implement scalable data solutions in Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse) using medallion architecture principles (bronze/silver/gold) and strong data lineage practices.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Fabric Data Factory, notebooks, and orchestration patterns; implement incremental loads and monitoring.
- Implement OneLake strategies (shortcuts, shared data assets, reuse across workspaces) to reduce duplication and improve maintainability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and data quality issues from ingestion through consumption layers.
Semantic Modeling, DAX, and Performance Optimization
- Build high-quality semantic models with best-practice dimensional modeling (star schema), clear measures-first design, and consistent naming/definitions.
- Develop and optimize DAX measures (time intelligence, complex calculations, calculation groups where appropriate) and validate results against source systems.
- Improve report and model performance through proper aggregation strategies, storage mode choices, and query optimization techniques.
- Establish and execute QA practices for datasets/models/reports (reconciliation checks, edge-case validation, regression testing).
Data Quality, Governance, Security, and Compliance
- Implement data validation rules, anomaly checks, and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Apply governance best practices across Fabric and Power BI (workspace organization, endorsement/certification, sensitivity labels, access controls, and least-privilege security).
- Support clients with guidance on responsible AI, data privacy, and secure deployment patterns across cloud and on-premises integrations.
AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement
- Identify opportunities for AI-driven automation and advanced analytics (forecasting, classification, anomaly detection, optimization) that align with business value.
- Develop prototypes and production-ready analytics assets using Python and/or R, and integrate results into Fabric/Power BI solutions.
- Contribute to AI-enabled analytics experiences (e.g., narrative insights, assisted analysis workflows) while maintaining governance and security requirements.
Delivery Excellence, DevOps, and Documentation
- Follow an agile delivery approach with clear sprint planning, estimation, progress communication, and risk/issue management.
- Contribute to or lead deployment practices (version control, release management, environment separation, and rollback strategies where applicable).
- Create and maintain strong documentation (data dictionaries, lineage, model design notes, refresh schedules, support handoffs).
- Provide client enablement through training sessions, knowledge transfer, and post-deployment support planning.
Leadership, Mentorship, and Collaboration
- Mentor junior developers through design reviews, code/model reviews, and coaching on best practices in Power BI and Fabric.
- Collaborate closely with onshore stakeholders and client teams; communicate clearly, proactively, and professionally in a distributed delivery model.
- Contribute to internal accelerators, reusable frameworks, and team standards (templates, utilities, patterns, and playbooks).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data analytics with a strong focus on Power BI development (data modeling, DAX, Dataflows), with at least 2 years in a client-facing consulting role.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, OneLake, and Power BI is ideal.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and AI development.
- Experience with Azure services (Data Lake, Azure ML, Cognitive Services, Databricks, or Power Automate).
- Proven ability to design Power BI analytics solutions, troubleshoot data quality issues across the pipeline, manage refresh schedules, and drive measurable business impact.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred):
- Microsoft certifications (preferred): PL-300, DP-600, DP-203, Azure AI Engineer (AI-102), or related.
- Experience with Azure data/AI services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure ML, Cognitive Services, Databricks, Power Automate).
- Exposure to AI-powered analytics and modern GenAI concepts (prompting patterns, grounding/RAG concepts, model evaluation, responsible AI).
- Knowledge of data governance and security best practices (role-based access, sensitivity labeling, auditing, compliance-aware design).
