Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior CAD Engineer (Electrical) to support engineering design consultancy projects. The role involves preparation, review, and coordination of electrical design drawings, along with BOQ estimation and vendor documentation support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, accuracy, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Drafting & Design
- Develop electrical schematics, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and layout drawings
- Prepare equipment layouts, lighting designs, cable tray/raceway layouts, and sectional drawings
- Ensure timely delivery of drawings aligned with project schedules
2. BOQ & Quantity Estimation
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for electrical installations
- Prepare BOQs with accurate backup calculations and documentation
3. Drawing Review & Revision Control
- Maintain and track drawing revisions using standard revision control practices
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements
4. Detailing & Documentation
- Incorporate detailed design inputs to support vendor understanding and execution
- Enable accurate vendor bidding through well-documented drawings
5. Quality Assurance
- Ensure high-quality outputs with minimal errors during internal reviews
- Maintain accuracy in BOQ estimations
- Minimize rework in approved (GFC) drawings
6. Interdisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate with MEP and cross-functional teams for spatial planning and routing
- Support resolution of inter-service clashes during the GFC stage
- Communicate design and coordination issues to engineers proactively
7. Vendor Drawing Review
- Review vendor/shop drawings and provide technical feedback
- Support design engineers in final approval or rejection decisions
Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (3 years – minimum)
- OR BE in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- OR AMIE (Electrical & Electronics)
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word
