Role Overview

The role is responsible for designing, leading, and continuously optimizing the company's end-to-end collections strategy. This role balances data-driven decision-making, customer experience, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence to maximize recoveries while protecting brand reputation and customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Own and evolve the enterprise-wide collections strategy across all delinquency stages (early, mid, late, charge-off).
  • Define long-term vision, roadmap, and success metrics aligned with company risk and growth objectives.
  • Partner with executive leadership on portfolio performance, loss forecasting, and risk mitigation strategies.

Performance & Analytics

  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to monitor roll rates, cure rates, recovery rates, cost-to-collect, and customer outcomes.
  • Leverage data analytics, segmentation, and behavioural insights to drive differentiated treatment strategies.
  • Oversee testing frameworks (A/B, champion/challenger) to continuously improve collections effectiveness.

Operations & Execution

  • Lead internal collections teams and/or manage third-party agencies and vendors.
  • Optimize workflows, staffing models, capacity planning, and incentive structures.
  • Drive automation and digital collections initiatives (SMS, email, self-service, AI-assisted outreach).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Risk, Data Science, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Support.
  • Influence upstream credit policy and underwriting decisions using collections insights.
  • Support new product launches, portfolio expansions, and M&A integration efforts.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in collections, credit risk, or servicing strategy, with 5+ years in senior leadership.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling collections strategies in lending, fintech, banking, or credit services.
  • Strong analytical background with experience using data to drive strategy and results.
  • Experience managing third-party agencies and technology vendors.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
