Senior Cloud Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure to design, deploy, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure for our enterprise environment. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and highly available Azure solutions while collaborating across teams to support application modernization and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Azure services, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions in Microsoft Azure.
• Serve as the Azure subject matter expert for infrastructure, operations, and DevOps practices.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance tasks using tools such as Bicep, ARM templates, and Azure Automation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements and translate business needs into cloud solutions.
• Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including RBAC, Azure Policies, and logging.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting Azure infrastructure and application delivery.
• Own the design and maintenance of backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies.
• Perform daily system monitoring and health checks of Azure environments and workloads.
• Optimize Azure usage and cost through proactive capacity and performance management.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and runbooks.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Respond to critical incidents, outages, and perform root cause analysis.
• Stay current on Azure service updates and emerging cloud technologies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Proven experience deploying and managing services such as Azure VMs, Storage, App Services, AKS, VNETs, and Azure Monitor.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools (e.g., Bicep, ARM templates, Terraform).
• Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Excellent understanding of networking, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, DNS, and routing in Azure.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Deep knowledge of cloud security, governance, and compliance best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a dynamic environment.
• Preferred:
• Experience migrating workloads from on-premises to Azure.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures (Azure + on-prem).
• Knowledge of Azure Active Directory integration and identity federation.
• Experience with containerization tools (Docker, AKS) is a plus.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and support off-hours events if required.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Certifications (Required or In Progress):

Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent certification preferred.
