We are seeking experienced Senior Civil Engineer - Water Treatment Plant to join our Indian Engineering Centre and work as part of the Binnies UK team on a diverse portfolio of technically challenging UK water-sector projects. The role offers the opportunity to deliver engineering solutions for major UK water utility clients, covering all stages of a project lifecycle from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced civil engineers with a strong background in water and wastewater infrastructure, treatment and conveyance systems. You will work closely with UK colleagues and clients while developing a broad understanding of the UK water industry and its design, construction and regulatory requirements.

The role involves working as an integrated member of the Binnies UK team, collaborating with UK-based colleagues on a day-to-day basis while being based in Gurugram.

This is a full-time position based on a 40-hour working week.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering teams in the delivery of high-quality engineering outputs, including:
• General arrangement and detail drawings
• Pipeline plans, sections and details
• Design calculations
• Technical specifications
• Schedules and reports
• Design Risk Management
• Health and Safety documentation
• Contract documentation
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams, including process, mechanical, electrical and structural engineers, project managers, engineering managers, estimating teams, supply chain partners, site and commissioning personnel, CAD technicians, joint venture partners and clients.
• Provide technical leadership and specialist civil engineering expertise across projects.
• Take overall responsibility for the review and quality assurance of civil engineering deliverables produced within the India Engineering Centre for Binnies UK projects.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality systems, industry standards and project requirements.
• Where applicable Ensure compliance with client procedures, quality systems and standards.
• Actively drive Health & Safety during design and ensure compliance with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations, primarily as the designer duty holder.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and sustainability whilst complying with project requirements
• Support and mentor engineers within remote and distributed project teams.
• Coordinate the development of key multidisciplinary deliverables, including general arrangement drawings and hydraulic profiles.
• Manage interfaces between engineering disciplines and ensure effective integration of civil engineering solutions into the overall project design.
• Undertake technical bid assessments, subcontractor design reviews and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Assist the project management team in preparation of fee proposals and develop project programmes.
• Provide technical guidance, supervision and mentoring to project teams.
• Define the basis of design, validate engineering solutions and contribute to construction methodologies and commissioning strategies.
• Manage civil engineering budgets, schedules and quality objectives to ensure successful project delivery.

Candidate Requirements

The role is suitable for technically strong and commercially aware engineers with experience in the water sector or closely related industries.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from a recognized and accredited institution.
• Typically, a minimum of 10-15 years relevant professional experience.
• Proven experience in the design of clean water and wastewater treatment infrastructure.

Technical Knowledge

• Good understanding of the requirements of other engineering disciplines and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary designs.
• Experience working within 3D design environments and overseeing the development of general arrangement drawings and plant layouts.
• Ability to identify, monitor, record and quantify design changes and support project risk management activities.
• Working knowledge of:
• Water and wastewater treatment processes
• Equipment and plant design
• Testing and commissioning procedures
• Procurement and construction practices
• Engineering codes, standards and best practice
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) and applicable software (i.e. Projectwise, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
• UK Health and Safety legislation, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM)
• Planning and document control processes
