Your impact
As a Senior Civil/Conveyance Design Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting overall work progress and technical performance on projects. Working with other members of our team, you'll collaborate closely with business group project delivery leadership or other senior project managers/operations leaders who provide oversight and mentoring.
Key duties include
- Engineering calculations and drawing preparation (e.g., hydraulics, pipe design, fittings, material and equipment selection)
- Preparation of technical memos, reports, and specifications
- Alignment selection (vertical and horizontal)
- Lead design of site grading, site servicing, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, roadway surface drainage systems, municipal storm sewers, stormwater facilities, and LID measures
- Support and collaborate with Conveyance, Water Resources, Infrastructure and Buildings teams on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as with the client
- Support growth of a specialized team; coaching, mentoring, and assisting junior team members in their career development
- Coordination of design with various stakeholders for permits and approvals
- Support our construction team with site visits and inspections.
- Hydraulic Modeling Software (WaterGEMS/ SewerGEMS or equivalent)
- ArcGIS Pro/ QGIS
- Naviswork
- Microstation/ AutoCAD exposure
Hybrid Work Expectation Average office presence of 3 days per week, with travel for client/site meetings and occasional team meetings.
Here's what you'll need
Experience
- Minimum 10+ years experience in an engineering consulting environment
- Experience managing and coordinating multiple disciplines on small to large projects, including scope, schedule, and budget management
- Experience in design of large and small diameter linear infrastructure
- Experience in trenchless design (HDD, TBM, MTBM)
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Excellent report writing skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering / Technology
Preferred
- Post Graduate degree in Environmental Engineering/ Water Resources/Irrigation or equivalent
- Understanding of relevant AWWA, Ofwat, and Hydraulic Institute Standards (HIS) an asset
- Experience in condition assessment and rehabilitation (asset)
- Experience in proposal preparation and leadership (asset)
- Experience in alternate delivery methods (asset)
Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) as a Professional Engineer (PE)/ Chartered Engineer
