Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled CFD Engineer to lead aerodynamic simulation and analysis
for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The role involves developing high-fidelity CFD models
to improve aerodynamic efficiency, flight stability, cooling performance, propeller
interactions, and overall vehicle performance.
The candidate will collaborate with aerostructures, propulsion, controls, and flight-testing
teams to drive simulation-led UAV design optimization.
Key Responsibilities
1. UAV Aerodynamic Simulation
Perform aerodynamic simulations for UAV platforms including fixed-wing, VTOL, and
multirotor configurations.
Analyse lift, drag, thrust interaction, and aerodynamic stability.
Evaluate propeller–airframe interaction and rotor downwash effects.
Use CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, Open-FOAM, and ANSYS CFX.
2. Aerodynamic Design Optimization
Improve lift-to-drag ratio, endurance, and payload efficiency.
Perform parametric studies and shape optimization of wings, fuselage, ducts, and
propellers.
Support design teams with simulation-driven aerodynamic improvements.
3. Rotor and Propeller Analysis
Simulate propeller aerodynamics and rotor flows.
Study propeller wake, blade loading, and thrust generation.
Optimize propeller placement and rotor spacing for multirotor UAVs.
4. Thermal & Cooling Analysis
Conduct electronics cooling simulations for onboard avionics, batteries, and motors.
Evaluate airflow within UAV fuselage and battery compartments.
5. Flight Performance Prediction
Support flight dynamics team with aerodynamic coefficients.
Generate aerodynamic data for flight control models.
Perform wind condition simulations and stability studies.
6. Validation & Testing
Correlate CFD results with wind tunnel tests and flight test data.
Improve simulation accuracy through validation studies.
7. Leadership (Lead / Manager Level)
Lead and mentor CFD engineers.
Define aerodynamic simulation strategy and workflows.
Collaborate with structures, propulsion, controls, and flight test teams.
