Key Responsibilities
- Gather and document detailed business requirements by working closely with stakeholders from Quality, Clinical, HR, Financial, and Compliance teams.
- Analyze and understand operational workflows in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) or Assisted Living and map them to relevant data sources.
- Create clear and detailed BRDs, FRDs, use cases, and data mapping specifications.
- Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models meeting business requirements and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and data engineering teams to gather data requirements and translate them into robust, scalable data models.
- Analyze and evaluate existing data models and databases to identify opportunities for optimization, standardization, and improvement.
- Collaborate with data engineers and QA teams to support the implementation of both Silver (3NF) and Gold (Dimensional) layer data models.
- Define and validate key metrics, KPIs, and dimensions required for regulatory, performance, and clinical reporting.
- Perform data profiling and analysis using SQL and tools like Excel or Power BI to validate data availability and quality.
- Support UAT, testing, and data quality checks to ensure that delivered solutions align with business expectations.
- Participate in and support data stewardship workflows, ensuring proper business ownership and governance of data elements.
Must-Have Skills
- 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst and Data Modeller, with at least 2–3 years in the Health Care or Senior Care domain.
- Strong knowledge of EHR systems, resident care workflows, staffing models, and compliance and operational reporting needs.
- Experience writing BRDs, functional specs and data mapping documents.
- Demonstrated experience in building both normalized and denormalizeddata models.
- Strong experience in data warehouse design, ETL processes and data integration strategies.
- Proficiency in data modelling tools such as erwin, ER/Studio, or PowerDesigner.
- Hands-on experience with SQL for basic to intermediate data analysis and validation.
- Understanding of KPIs and reporting requirements in care delivery settings.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Excel charts or other visualization tools.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with business and technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Understanding of Data Lake and Lakehouse architecture principles
- Exposure to Medallion architecture or layered data platform environments.
- Familiarity with FHIR, HR Open standards.
- Expertise in advanced data modelling techniques for large-scale and high-performance data systems.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure, Databricks or Fabric.
- Awareness of data governance and master data management concepts.
