Senior Business Development Manager (Ocean Freight)

Responsibilities

• Drive new business growth by identifying, pitching, and closing opportunities across targeted accounts Build and manage a strong pipeline, from prospecting and lead generation through negotiation and contract close Achieve quarterly and annual revenue/profit targets, with regular performance tracking and forecasting Partner closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., pricing and operations) to structure competitive proposals and service offerings Retain and grow existing accounts through cross-sell and up-sell initiatives where relevant Prepare and present activity updates, pipeline health, and results during internal reviews and stakeholder meetings Maintain market awareness and translate market movements into actionable sales strategies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in business development / sales within logistics-related solutions, with strong exposure to ocean freight Demonstrated track record of consistently generating new business and growing sales accounts Strong new-business (hunter) capability with substantial time spent on prospecting and acquisition responsibilities Experience managing complex, long-term contracts and enterprise / multi-site accounts Solid understanding of end-to-end logistics solutions (e.g., multiple transport modes and warehousing) to support consultative selling Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret commercial and operational considerations Proficiency with common productivity tools for reporting, presentations, and pipeline management Stable and progressive career history with clear performance outcomes
