Job Description

Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) is an agency under Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry. Our mandate is to grow Singapore's economy through building enterprise capabilities in innovation and technology, and internationalisation. We help Singaporean companies access global market opportunities, collaborate with technology partners, and promote Singapore as a global trading hub.

EnterpriseSG has thirty-six Overseas Centres globally, with three in the South Asia region in India: Chennai, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

As a (Senior) Business Development Manager in the South Asia Division, you will support Singapore-based companies seeking to expand into South Asia by identifying and developing growth opportunities and strategic partnerships. You will also engage companies across sectors, identify market opportunities, and facilitate collaborations that can strengthen the companies capabilities and entry/ expansion in the region.

This position will be based in our Chennai Overseas Centre and will play a key role in driving Business Development and Market Intelligence as well as Strategic Partnership Development.

Business Development and Market Intelligence

  • Lead and support work related to identifying and facilitating business opportunities for Singapore companies in India, including engagement with relevant stakeholders such as conglomerates, MNCs, government bodies, and trade associations.
  • Develop business leads across various industry sectors and assess market information to develop insights and uncover emerging trends.
  • Plan, organise and execute business delegation visits and meetings for Singapore companies doing business in India.
  • Prepare state, industry and company analysis reports on a timely basis for internal reporting and to strengthen Singapore companies understanding of Indian markets.

Strategic Partnership Development

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of engagement strategies and high-impact initiatives with key stakeholders to expand collaboration scope and achieve scalability in assisting Singapore companies to enter and expand into India.
  • Support the Regional Director of Chennai OC in building partnerships that improve the business environment in Singapore and promote bilateral trade and business ties between Singapore and India.
  • Travel to other states including Tamil Nadu (outside of Chennai), Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala for business meetings and stakeholder engagements for business meetings and stakeholder engagements as required.

What You'll Be Using and Applying

  • Minimally 5 years of experience in business development and project management within the private or public sector, preferably in the field of trade and investment.
  • Experience in infrastructure and sustainability, technology and innovation, energy and/or manufacturingsectors will be preferred.
  • Experience working overseas, with foreign government, and/or multinational organisations is an advantage.
  • Experience in Singapore and India's bilateral engagements and industry sectors is ideal.
  • Experience in client and external stakeholders relationship management.
  • Ability to apply strong analytical reasoning and resourcefulness in a work setting, with the capability to drive projects independently.
  • Ability to apply Microsoft Office suite and administrative systems in a work setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate diplomatically and tactfully.
  • Proficiency in written and oral English communications with confident presentation skills.
