Job Description

About The Placement Valley

The Placement Valley is an Australian recruitment and career-readiness business helping skilled professionals become more employer-ready for the Australian job market, while supporting Australian employers with access to qualified, pre-screened local and global talent.

We work across key sectors including hospitality, trades, healthcare, project management, construction, education, and finance. Our services focus on recruitment support, employer engagement, candidate readiness, job-search strategy, CV and LinkedIn optimisation, interview preparation, and suitable employer-matching opportunities.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly driven Senior Business Development Consultant to help grow The Placement Valley's employer, recruiter, partner, and candidate pipeline. This is a sales-focused role for someone who is confident in identifying opportunities, starting conversations, building relationships, qualifying leads, and converting interest into commercial outcomes. You will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, managing your sales pipeline, following up consistently, preparing proposals, and supporting revenue growth across our key markets.

This role does not involve team supervision at this stage. Instead, we are looking for someone who can take ownership of their own desk, work independently, and drive measurable results.

You will work directly with leadership and play an important role in expanding our presence across Australian recruitment, employer engagement, and skilled talent pathways.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Sales

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across Australian employers, recruiters, industry partners, and skilled candidate markets.
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified leads across B2B and B2C channels.
  • Conduct outbound outreach through LinkedIn, email, calls, WhatsApp, and other relevant channels.
  • Convert warm and cold leads into discovery calls, consultations, proposals, and signed clients.
  • Follow up consistently with prospects and maintain momentum across the sales cycle.
  • Track all activity, conversations, follow-ups, and deal stages accurately in the CRM.

Employer and Partner Engagement

  • Research and approach Australian employers, recruiters, and industry partners with relevant hiring or workforce needs.
  • Build professional relationships with decision-makers including business owners, hiring managers, recruiters, HR teams, and operations managers.
  • Understand employer pain points and position The Placement Valley's recruitment and talent support services clearly.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships, referrals, and long-term commercial relationships.

Candidate Lead Generation

  • Support lead generation strategies for skilled candidates interested in improving their Australian job-market readiness.
  • Qualify candidate leads based on experience, goals, readiness, communication, and suitability for our services.
  • Explain our services clearly and ethically, without overpromising outcomes.
  • Support conversion of qualified candidate leads into paid consultations or career-readiness services.

Sales Pipeline and Reporting

  • Maintain a clear, accurate, and updated sales pipeline.
  • Prepare weekly updates on outreach activity, leads generated, calls booked, proposals sent, conversions, and expected revenue.
  • Track average deal size, conversion rates, lead sources, and follow-up outcomes.
  • Share market insights, competitor observations, and client feedback with leadership.
  • Recommend improvements to outreach messaging, sales scripts, and lead-generation campaigns.

Market Research and Strategy

  • Research Australian industries, employer demand, role trends, and recruitment opportunities.
  • Identify high-potential sectors, regions, and employer groups for outreach.
  • Support the development of sales campaigns, LinkedIn outreach sequences, email templates, and partnership strategies.
  • Work closely with leadership to improve The Placement Valley's commercial positioning and market approach.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is commercially sharp, confident in outbound sales, and comfortable working independently in a remote role.

You should have:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in sales, business development, recruitment, staffing, career services, education sales, or a related field.
  • Proven experience generating leads and converting them into business opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of sales pipelines, follow-ups, CRM discipline, and revenue tracking.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Confidence speaking with employers, recruiters, candidates, and professional partners.
  • Ability to conduct outreach through LinkedIn, email, calls, and WhatsApp.
  • Strong follow-up discipline and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Comfort working toward targets, KPIs, and commercial outcomes.
  • Experience in recruitment, international recruitment, migration-adjacent services, education, career consulting, or Australian market sales will be highly regarded.
