Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong expertise in Life Insurance underwriting processes. The role

involves working closely with underwriting teams, product, actuarial, operations, and technology to translate business needs into

system requirements, streamline underwriting workflows, and support digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Underwriting Domain & Process Expertise

Analyze and document end-to-end Life Insurance underwriting workflows, rules, and risk parameters.

Work with underwriters to identify process gaps, automation opportunities, and business improvements.

Understand product eligibility rules, medical requirements, financial underwriting, and risk assessment guidelines.

2. Business & Functional Analysis

Gather, analyze, and translate business needs into BRD, FRD, Use Cases, and Process Maps.

Conduct GAP analysis, workflow analysis, and impact assessments for new enhancements or regulatory requirements.

Define and validate underwriting rules for system integrations and rule engines.

3. Technofunctional Collaboration

Coordinate with technology teams to detail functional specifications, system behaviour, and integration points.

Support testing teams with UAT scenarios, test case design, and defect resolution.

Assist in implementing rule engines, underwriting portals, APIs, or third-party integrations (medical vendors, reinsurers,

etc.).

4. Stakeholder Management

Act as the bridge between Underwriting, Product, Actuarial, Operations, and IT.

Facilitate discussions, requirement workshops, and sprint planning sessions.

Ensure timely communication and alignment between functional and technical teams.

5. Reporting & Governance

Track requirements, timelines, and delivery progress in Agile/Scrum environments.

Prepare reports, dashboards, and documentation for senior management.

Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory standards.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

Strong knowledge of Life Insurance underwriting (medical, financial, risk assessment).

Experience in creating BRD, FRD, user stories, workflows, and functional specifications.

Understanding of policy issuance, risk rules, product structures, and policy lifecycle.

Experience with UAT, GAP analysis, and process mapping.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Good-to-Have

Exposure to rule engines, underwriting automation tools, or underwriting decision platforms.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, JIRA, Confluence, or similar tools.

Ability to work with SQL, APIs, or data analysis tools for requirement validation.

Educational Background

Graduate/Postgraduate in Business, Insurance, Finance, or related fields.

Insurance certifications (LOMA, ALMI, FLMI) preferred
