AI Sr Business Analyst - Role Description

Amazon Finance Operations (FinOps) supports every business line and geography across Amazon - paying Vendors and Suppliers (Procure to Pay), collecting cash (Order to Cash), and paying employees (Payroll) on time, accurately, and with the best experience. As Amazon grows, so does the demand for FinOps services - and we're fundamentally rethinking how we deliver them.
The Opportunity
We're recruiting a Senior Business Analyst for our FinOps Program Management Office (PMO) who will combine deep BA expertise with a forward-looking mandate - designing, deploying, and scaling AI agents that automate repeatable analysis tasks and accelerate delivery for our customers across the organization. You'll define the strategy for how AI transforms business analysis delivery, build intelligent workflows that compress timelines from weeks to days, and drive adoption across teams - while applying your expertise where it matters most: solving ambiguous problems, influencing senior stakeholders, and making strategic trade-offs that AI can't.
This is a role for someone who can operate independently with limited guidance, manage the lifecycle of complex initiatives across multiple teams, and shape how an entire organization delivers.

Key Responsibilities
AI Strategy & Scalable Delivery Transformation
. Define and own the AI-enabled delivery strategy for BA workflows across the PMO - determining where automation creates the highest leverage and driving adoption across teams
. Architect intelligent workflows that automate repeatable BA tasks at scale - requirements drafting, validation, traceability, impact analysis - compressing delivery timelines organization-wide
. Establish governance frameworks ensuring AI-generated outputs meet controllership standards, and iterate on agent performance based on measurable outcomes
. Force-multiply by enabling other BAs and PMs to leverage AI tools effectively - building the mechanisms, guidelines, and training that make the capability self-sustaining
Program Leadership & Complex Problem Solving
. Own end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple teams and business units - from strategy definition through execution and post-launch measurement
. Navigate ambiguity: define program scope, success criteria, and execution plans where the business problem or solution may not be well-defined
. Make strategic trade-offs between short-term delivery needs and long-term scalability, and drive crisp decisions with senior stakeholders (Directors, VPs)
. Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and failure modes - mitigating before they become roadblocks
Requirements Leadership & Quality
. Set the standard for requirements analysis across the team - ensuring completeness, consistency, feasibility, and verifiability at scale
. Translate complex business and customer needs into actionable specifications grounded in data, and influence roadmap priorities based on business impact
. Create and refine standardized BA processes, artifacts, and mechanisms that raise team maturity and effectiveness across the organization
Stakeholder Influence & Communication
. Partner with and influence senior leaders on priorities, resource allocation, and strategic direction
. Drive alignment across multiple teams with competing priorities - building consensus and resolving contention constructively
. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally to Directors and VPs - narratives, business cases, program reviews, and escalations
Business Process Analysis & Optimization
. Evaluate end-to-end business processes across AP, AR, and Compliance verticals - identifying automation opportunities that significantly reduce cycle times and eliminate unnecessary process
. Streamline and simplify: judiciously add, refine, and remove procedures to increase team productivity and delivery speed
. Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, measure impact, and drive decisions

A Day in the Life
You operate at both the strategic and tactical level. You might start the day reviewing AI agent performance metrics and refining automation workflows, then shift to facilitating a cross-functional alignment session where you're driving consensus across teams with competing priorities. You present a program narrative to a Director, then coach a BA on how to leverage AI tools for a complex requirements effort.
You own ambiguous problems end-to-end - defining what needs to be solved, building the plan, clearing blockers, and delivering results. When you spot a systemic inefficiency, you don't just fix it for one project - you design the mechanism that eliminates it permanently across the organization. You mentor others, raise the bar on delivery quality, and actively shape how the team evolves.

About the Team
The FinOps PMO is building the next generation of delivery capability - one where AI agents handle the volume and velocity, and humans bring judgment, influence, and strategic thinking. You'll join a team that delivers seamless procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and payroll processes enabling Amazon's global expansion. As a Senior BA, you'll play a leadership role in defining how AI transforms delivery at scale - your solutions will be built to high controllership standards, adopted across geographies, and designed to operate long-term with or without your direct involvement. This is a high-growth environment where your work will directly shape how an entire organization operates.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in business analysis, requirements management, or a related analytical role
- Track record of delivering end-to-end solutions in complex, ambiguous environments
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives without direct authority
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics or a related technical or quantitative field
- Fluent with AI tools and configuring AI agents as well as intelligent workflows
- Experienced with ERP systems as well as in tax and finance, preferably accounts receivable or accounts payable.

Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in business analysis or related fields
- Master's degree in finance, accounting or related field
- PMP/SCRUM/Agile certification or similar
- Knowledge of data analytics with tools such as Tableau, SQL, QuickSight
- Experience analyzing large datasets and translating them to actionable business insight
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, engineering , analytics, mathematics, statistics or a related technical or quantitative field
- Experience in business analysis
- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
- Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field, or experience in accounts receivable or account payable
- Track record of delivering end-to-end solutions in complex, ambiguous environments
- Fluent with AI tools and configuring AI agents as well as intelligent workflows
- 7+ years of business analyst, data analyst or similar role experience
- Master's degree or above in finance, accounting or related field
- PMP or SCRUM/Agile, SAFe certification
- Knowledge of data analytics with tools such as Tableau, SQL, Quick-sight
- Experience analyzing large datasets and translating them to actionable business insight
