Role Overview
This person will own the business intelligence layer across revenue, growth, funnels, cohorts, customer behavior, retention, and performance reporting. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working across product, sales, onboarding, customer success, partnerships, finance, and leadership teams to build a strong data-backed decision-making culture.
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving business problems using data, building clarity from ambiguity, and influencing strategic decisions in a fast-scaling SaaS company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Revenue and Business Performance Analysis
- Build and maintain clear business reporting across revenue, customer growth, activation, retention, expansion, churn, collections, and plan-wise performance.
- Track and analyze performance across self-serve, sales-led, partner-led, and emerging channels such as QR-led or Lite-plan-driven acquisition.
- Break down topline and subscription revenue by source, plan, cohort, customer type, and acquisition channel.
- Identify key drivers behind movement in business metrics and highlight risks, leakages, and growth opportunities.
2. Funnel and Cohort Analysis
- Analyze full customer journeys across lead-to-signup, signup-to-activation, activation-to-paid, paid-to-retained, and upsell/expansion funnels.
- Perform cohort analysis to understand retention behavior across customer segments, acquisition channels, product usage levels, and plans.
- Identify drop-off points in onboarding, product adoption, and conversion journeys, and recommend improvements.
- Evaluate which customer groups are growing faster, retaining better, expanding more, or contributing higher long-term value.
3. KPI Dashboards and Business Reviews
- Create structured dashboards and performance views for leadership, functional heads, and weekly/monthly business reviews.
- Standardize metric definitions, business logic, and reporting templates across teams.
- Ensure business dashboards are accurate, relevant, easy to interpret, and aligned to decision-making needs.
- Support weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reviews with actionable insights rather than only raw reporting.
4. Cross-Functional Business Insights
- Work closely with product, sales, customer success, onboarding, finance, partnerships, and growth teams to answer key business questions.
- Translate data into business recommendations for improving revenue, activation, retention, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with different teams to measure impact of launches, process changes, pricing changes, campaigns, and new initiatives.
- Support leadership in understanding the commercial and operational impact of key decisions.
5. Forecasting and Strategic Analysis
- Support forecasting, target planning, and scenario analysis for revenue, customer growth, and funnel improvement opportunities.
- Build analytical models to estimate upside from new initiatives, product changes, pricing changes, and channel growth.
- Assist in identifying leading indicators and early warning metrics for business performance.
- Help leadership prioritize high-impact opportunities based on data and business potential.
6. Data Quality and Reporting Discipline
- Work with internal teams to improve data consistency, tracking quality, tagging hygiene, and reporting structure.
- Ensure source data used for reporting is reliable and validated before it is used for business decisions.
- Highlight gaps in tracking, data availability, or reporting structure and proactively recommend fixes.
- Drive rigor in how teams interpret and use business data.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 36+ years of experience in Business Analytics, Growth Analytics, Revenue Analytics, Strategy & Analytics, or similar roles.
- Strong experience in a SaaS, internet, B2B tech, startup, or high-growth business environment.
- Strong understanding of revenue metrics, funnels, cohorts, retention, churn, and business KPIs.
- Ability to move beyond reporting and arrive at meaningful business insights and recommendations.
- Strong comfort working with founders and senior leadership on high-priority business problems.
- Ability to structure messy business questions into analytical frameworks and clear outputs.
Required Skills
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience with BI / dashboarding tools such as Mixpanel, Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar
- Strong analytical thinking and business judgment
- Good understanding of SaaS metrics, conversion funnels, retention curves, and revenue analysis
- Ability to communicate findings clearly through dashboards, reviews, and written summaries
