The Role
We are looking for an experienced Insurance Business Analyst who can translate complex insurance and actuarial requirements into clear, structured, and deliverable-ready specifications. You will work directly with underwriting, actuarial, exposure management, finance and technology teams across multiple client engagements. This is not a documentation-only role. You will actively shape solutions, challenge assumptions, and ensure that what gets built genuinely solves real business problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality business and functional artefacts including BRDs, functional specs, process maps, data flows and operating models
- Analyse current-state (as-is) insurance processes and design scalable future-state (to-be) solutions
- Lead requirements across underwriting, pricing, exposure management, reinsurance, capital, reserving, policy and claims data flows
- Own end-to-end data lineage from submission through modelling, pricing, reporting and capital
- Support solution design, testing, UAT and implementation with clear acceptance criteria
- Ensure all deliveries meet regulatory, governance and model-risk standards (e.g. Lloyd's, Solvency II, IFRS 17)
Required Experience & Skills
- 45+ years experience as a Business Analyst in insurance, reinsurance or consulting, ideally within the London Market or specialty insurance
- Strong understanding of underwriting, pricing, exposure, claims, reinsurance and catastrophe modelling concepts (GUL, NAL, AAL, YLT, PML)
- Proven experience delivering technology, data or transformation programmes in complex insurance environments
- Exceptional communication skills, able to lead workshops and engage credibly with senior business, actuarial and technology stakeholders
- Strong analytical and documentation skills, with experience working in data-heavy platforms (e.g. SQL, modelling or reporting systems)
